As long as it's not rotten and has been kept dry, out of the weather, it should be good. If you hit 2 pieces together and they make a good knocking sound, you should be fine.
I've got pecan I cut about 7 years ago (had a lot of it). It's all in chunks, no bark, in plastic milk crates in the basement so it can breath. I've got hickory from 3 years ago stored the same. Looks like the day I cut them into chunk.
I've also got hickory sticks for the fireplace from the same 3 trees stored outside and it is still in great shape too (I don't have a stick burner though, just a WSM, hence the chunks inside).
