The last 4 or 5 smokes my AMZNS  has gone out and it's starting to frustrate me.

I have been keeping it on the very bottom on the heating rack wire shelf. see picture below

I've also just started using Pecan from Todd and I am pretty sure I've used that most of the times it's been going out on me. I can also say the few smokes I have been in the low 200's and mid/upper 200's.

I feel there's maybe not enough air flow on the bottom, especially if I have a full smoker.

I always microwave the dust for a couple minutes before using it.

Is it better to loose pack the dust or just slightly pack it down?

Is this a high temp problem?

Any thoughts and/or advice?

Thanks

My first 2 thoughts are try mixing with oak... and the other is wondering if you have tried pulling the chip tray half way or all the way out to improve air flow to your A-MAZE-N?

I did the chip tray trick last time and it still went out. Forgot to mention that.

Are the pellets better?

Are there any video's on lighting the A-MAZE-N? I get mine going pretty good but it still seems like it's not getting enough oxygen... Maybe it's the pecan dust?

seems like you may be getting moisture on the amns. try making a tent w/ foil and covering it . If it burns as long as the pics show i dont think it's an airflow problem.

Have you looked at this?: http://www.amazenproducts.com/Articles.asp?ID=238  I think you've already tried everything there but it might help. Have you talked to Todd? You could send him a PM or call him on Monday, I'm sure he can help.

I use the pellets but have never used the dust so I can't compare but I've never had a problem with the pellets burning, in fact I had them flame up on me today and they are no where near a heat source. I just blew out the flame and they went back to smoking.

From the pics, it looks like juice is dripping on the dust

Also, it looks like the rows aren't filled with enough sawdust

Fill up the rows to the brim, and them pack the sawdust down with your thumb fill to the brim and pack down again

Are you using water in the water pan?

PM me and I'll hook you up with a pellet smoker if you want

What's your elevation?

You can always call me at (952)412-0484

I do my best to answer my phone on weekends, but if I miss your call, leave a message

I've never thought of juice running on it being it's right under the drip pan. I don't use water in my pan, just foil.

Sounds like I need to call the creator! Thanks Todd, I'll give you a shout.

FYI - I've had the best results with the A-MAZE-N products then with anything I've ever used. When my last one went out twice on me during smoked turkey legs, I just tossed some dust in the MES 40 pan and it smoked up too hot so I will be either feeding them to my dog (meat only) or putting them in baked beans because it was not TBS!
