Hi everyone

Just finishing up a 20L batch of an amber ale i got from kegland.com.au, its one of their all grain recipie kits called juarassic sparge. It actually tastes really nice like a roasted biscuty coffee chocolate type flavor & not too hoppy either. Type of hops were Strata. The original gravity was 1.065 & its sitting at 1.020 steady for 2 days.

Will be bottling this batch tomorrow & then another 2 weeks to carbonate & condition before i crack one open & im looking forward to it. Thanks for looking

sounds really good except for the coffee part. I need to make a batch of beer for thanksgiving when the family comes out to visit. Hope it hits the spot.

That sounds good. I guess with a finish gravity of 1.020 it will have a little sweetness.

We have a local brewery (Skookum) that makes an amber, and also Amber's Hot Friend. Both are pretty good.

Good on ya, mate!! We're making an amber ale today. Good drinking in around 2 weeks. Gonna dry hop it with East Kent Golding on the 6th day of fermentation.

I love a good Amber, and we have a few breweries here that make them, some better than others. Another thing I've always wanted to do but have yet to even begin reading up on it. Love to see the end result!

definitley give it a go, it isnt hard to brew beer it can be as simple or complicated as you want it to be & it isnt very expensive to get started either. Yeah for sure ill post a pic when its in the glass

Been a long time since I made beer. Got tired of the bottling. If I ever did it again would get a keg. I just do spirits now a days. Took some Strawberry to river yesterday. Man is that good. I pulled the apples from apple pie after couple months few days ago. Made it for the holidays. Man is it good!

I used to run a big draft system with 5 different beers in a modified 15 cf chest freezer with 5 taps. That was a very long time ago, though. We got old. All our beer-loving friends left the island (dyin' or flyin'). We no longer throw huge parties. We now just do one 6-gal batch at a time, and bottle off in 2 liter soda bottles. One bottle serves us 2 days. Racking off into soda bottles is quick and easy. The bottles can be reused many times.

Amber ale is a malt-forward brew. Hops definitely take a back seat. It's not sweet, as all the sugars have been eaten by the yeast. It does have a full-bodied malt flavor which some view as sweet since they're not getting the bitter hop hit they may be used to.

Oh wow really? 5 taps would have been amazing id love to have something like that but i dont brew enough, same here i just brew 5gal at a time thats ready as im finishing drinking the previous.
using 2l soda bottles how does the beer hold carbination over the few days you drink it? I use 500ml bottles just cause i wasnt sure if the beer would go flat after being opened & sitting in the fridge.

My 2 liter soda bottled beer holds carb for weeks or months without opening. We used to brew a lot more in bottles and bring them to parties on other people's homes while draft brew was enjoyed at our home. Once opened, a bottle is all consumed in 2 days now, sometimes 3, so there's no prob with carb there.

We brew the same as you now in 6 gal batches, timid to be ready as the last batch is consumed. It's a shadow of what we used to do, but then, we're a shadow of who we used to be. :D

I do miss having a few different brews to choose from on any given day, though. Every once in a while those 5 taps call to me from the past. :D

You seem to be doing quite well with that infused vodka, if that's what I'm seeing.
