Morning!

Planning on purchasing some different casings for my pepperoni to make it more of the "pizza size" for slicing but am having a hard time figuring out how many to buy for a given batter weight per casing.

I know the vendors give estimated fill weights , however the math doesn't seem to match their claims.

Currently I'm using 2.4 x 12 mahoganies with a stated capacity of 1-pound to 1-1/4 pounds and that is spot on weight-wise. If I take that same casing but double the length should give us a nominal 2 pound sausage right?

The new casing I'm looking is a 2.15 x 18 with a stated capacity of 2-pounds but it is only half again as long as my mahoganies and a smaller diameter. How can it therefore hold the stated 2-pounds?

Just want to be sure that I can trust their weight estimates so I don't mix a batch of batter and get caught short on casings (again, LOL)

RFWVT, I use a 61mm(2-3/8) x24 inch fibrous casing and get about 2.5 pounds into them. The claim seems a bit high ,buy a lot and you won't run out. :emoji_laughing:
