Took a few weeks off in July and spent some time at my parents' cabin in the PA Mountains (among other places!). We took our pizza oven on vacation and did pizza nights for my wife's family in Michigan and mine in PA. Great at cooking for a crowd and keeping the hot cooking out of places with no AC.

For the PA cook we made I think 15 pies, maybe it was 16. My wife is the star of the show here. She makes the dough - we really like a poolish - and builds the pies. I will say, I've gotten pretty good at launching and turning the pies, they only take about 90 seconds to cook.

Enjoy a few photos. The winner of the day was the bacon, pepperoni, goat cheese, and mozzarella. I think we made four of those pies and they all disappeared quickly

Cooking some toppings on my dad's blackstone - bacon, onion, mushroom, with a good girl hoping I am a messy chef:

Gotta love the photos with the pups in them.
My parent's dog, she's the best! So chill and patient with the kids.

Good lookin pies, and sounds like a good time too 👍
Was a great time - spent some time floating the Allegheny in canoes, creek swimming, and beers at my brother's farm which is on top of the mountain (my parents' cabin is down in the valley). Hard to beat.

I like your cooking partner
Thanks sir!

Wow! what a great way to spend time with family. The pies look spectacular. I think the pup is sending you that look..........waiting for one of those pies to hit the deck.

Thanks! I may have snuck her a little piece or two of bacon ;)

Food just tastes better in the mountains/woods. In-laws used to have a place in the Laurel mountains in Western PA and had some of the best meals of my life there.

Very nice! Love doing pizza on the wood fired oven when we are in PA. About where does your father live in PA?

Life is a bit more relaxed surrounded by nature.

Thank you! My parents have a cabin a bit outside of Franklin near the Allegheny River. My mom's side of the family has had cabins in the area for 75+ years. My parents, uncle, brother, and cousin all have places within a couple of miles of each other. Great region, can't recommend it enough.

My parents retired from Long Island to NEPA, Pike county. We built a house 1 mile from them in 2020. It is great up there except the nearest hospital is about an hour away...ask me how I know...lol
