i have 2 questions i would like to ask

`1) I use lump charcoal for my smoker and get my wood chunks /chips from walmart during a smoke how do you add your smoke wood to the firebox without
getting a bunch of white smoke for 10 minutes?

2) i just recently posted pics of my last smoke and people were giving me "points" i looked at my user cp a notice i have 82 what are they used for?
do you have to have so many in order to be nominated for the OTBS?

but i didnt see any thing about "points" and what they are for did i miss something?

I believe you are talking about the number of posts? The number located in the top right corner of each post, below the members' Join date, and location (if available). I do belive this changes you discription name locate under your member name to the top right of each post. I believe it changes with a certain amount of post. At least this has been my experience on here and similar forums.
I am sure someone else will be along soon to confirm or correct me.

folks give points to others for doing a good job with a smoke, a recipe, or contributing. Points are not given just by putting the

icon on a reply to a thred, you have to take it a step further and go to the post you liked, and then click on the points icon(the scales icon on the upper right hand side) to give another user points.

As for the OTBS, it is pretty easy to attain, just post alot of pics of your smokes, be an active member for the required time, and try to help other folks. It will take care of itself.

I use a what i call a 'smolder box' for wood chips. They look like this

This way they aren't directly in the fire and don't get a good flow of air so they smolder instead of burn up. A lot of guys do similar by wrapping the chips in tinfoil packs and poking holes. Another trick is to soak your chips.

If you look in the upper right corner of each post you will see a green bar representing how many points the poster has. I think the theory is that if you get a couple opinions on something that are completely different, the reputation points helps you decide which opinion to put more trust in.
