I'm relatively new to the forum and my question may have been answered before, but if you will bear with me...I need to roast/smoke all at one time, 4-5 Boston Butts 6-9 lbs. each. I have a homemade 275 gallon drum cooker that I can use with propane or charcoal/wood. What temperature should I...
Thanks Bob1961. Just took care of that. I appreciate the guidance.
Just chillin out after devouring a delicious smoked chicken dinner. Tried the Apple Chicken in Pie Plate recipe Jeff listed earlier this week. I didn't have any apple wood so I smoked it over hickory and corn cobs but filled my...
Thanks SHTRDAVE. Yea, sorry about the NDOA but like you said...good grub and fellowship is what it is all about anyway. Looking forward to learning from you smokin' pro's.
Maybe was him. The fellow carved me a wooden indian as a thank you for providing him the logs to carve during the event. Have it sitting on the front porch to welcome friends.
Hey Bearcarver...did you happen to attend a Fall Folk Festival in McConnellsburg a few years back and do some chain saw carving??? I'm thinking the fellows first name started with a "B" Was just wondering if that was you.
Hey, that corn cob sounds interesting. I think I'll try it. As a matter of fact I'm just getting ready to make some corn cob jelly in the next week or two. Have a bunch of field corn cobs just waitin' to be cooked.
C Farmer...I have a question. Being's you've been around here for awhile...how does one stay on top of reply to one's posts? Is there some way I can receive an alarm, or beep to one of my posts or replys? I like to be searching around but I have been finding that when I come back to a post I...
I cook on a Cabelas Electric/Wood/Charcoal cooker and a 275 gallon propane/charcoal pig cooker. The pig cooker is new and I'm still working out the kinks. Having a little trouble balancing the heat but I think it's just getting used to controlling the venting.
You're just up the road. This is my first night on the forum so all of this is pretty new and interesting. Evidently, you have been around this place for awhile if the "Master of the Pit" means anything.
Four miles off the McConnellsburg Exit of the PA Turnpike.
Other than McConnellsburg the next closest bigger towns are Chambersburg to the east and Bedford to the west.
I'm in Fulton County which is in South Central, PA. We're about halfway between Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. I'd be open to maybe hosting depending on time and date. I have a farm with a barn that we could get out of the weather in if it is bad weather. I'm a newbie to the forum so hello to the...
Been smokin meat off and on for about 20 years. Getting close to retirement so I'm looking to sharpen my smoking skills. Really enjoy cooking for friends and family and want to make sure we always please the crowd. Have already picked up some really great ideas and recipes checking out Jeff's...
Looking for a set up to auto control the temp on my pipe burner pig cooker. Sure would be nice to find a "Stoker" or "Guru" type device that controlled gas flow rather than a blower. Something that would keep a pilot lit when it closes, but ready to fire up when the temp drops in the cooking...
