My fridge conversion has been on hold while I find a suitable and affordable gasket here in Canada. Came across these at Rona. They come in 78" long pieces in 1/8",1/4",3/8",1/2" and 3/4". They include the glue. The 3/4" one fits mine perfectly and these things are priced right!

Found these at the local dollar store. 2 pack for $1. they are wavy, but a rolling pin flattened them perfectly. the actual dollar store i got them at was "Dollar Tree"

Insert torn out. Out in the spring sunshine to remove the black gunk and grind down the rust. Black gunk pulled off like loose caulking, all in one piece. I'll clean with solvent to be sure before re-sealing with the high heat food safe caulking. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel...
