Dyna Glo vertical side box vs Oklahoma Joes Bandera

I got the dyna glo wide body for Christmas but am concerned that it’s too big. I don’t usually smoke a whole lot at a time and only have a couple parties a year so it would be a lot of space to heat. After looking over some reviews and seeing all the modifications to keep the dyna glo up to temp...

    Brisket troubles

Right now it's a smoke hollow 4 in 1 and a redi chek dual probe thermometer. I'm debating between a dyna Glo vertical offset and an Oklahoma Joe Bandera For my next one but haven't decided yet.

Dyna Glo vertical side box vs Oklahoma Joes Bandera

I've been looking for a new smoker and I'm between the Dyna-Glo vertical offset and the Oklahoma Joes Bandera. I've seen good reviews for both. The Dyna Glo seems to need more modifications and I've seen some people having trouble maintaining an even temperature. I live in Indiana and plan to...

    Brisket troubles

I need some advice on brisket. I smoked a 4 lb brisket yesterday but it came out chewy and not nearly as tender as it should be. It was rubbed the night before, smoked at 225-250 with hickory chunks until it was 160. Then it was wrapped in foil with 1/2 cup of beef broth and put back on the...

    Sealing the SFB

Flame Buster high heat latex caulk is what I used. It's good for areas that dont move but dries very hard and brittle so it didn't work well on the lid.

    Sealing the SFB

Thanks everyone. I used the red RTV silicon from permatex. It says its good to 500 but I had my smoke chamber to 500 today and it seemed to do fine. I put it on the chamber lid, the SFB lid and the door on the SFB. I used a high temp latex caulk that's good up to 1300 for the seems between the...

    Sealing the SFB

Has anyone used the RTV Silicon to seal the lid if a SFB? I'm wondering if it held up when you had a good fire burning. I'm trying to increase the efficiency of my smoker but don't want a bunch of silicone burning and getting fumes all over the food. Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I had a feeling it was all the air getting in and out. Thanks again.

    First Smoke

Hey everyone, great website.  I smoked my first pork shoulder today.  This was my first smoke ever, and I must admit that I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  It was an 8 lb Boston Butt, and spent 9 hours on the smoker.  The weather changed on me so I wrapped it in foil and finished it in...

    New Smoker

Hi. I'm new to smoking meat and just got a new grill with side fire box. I'm really looking forward to trying my first pork butt this weekend. Any tips for a newbie would be great. Thanks.
