    Masterbuilt not working properly

Mine lives in  the garage as well in Georgia and it has cracks everywhere. It was just lousy injection molded part design with stress risers.

    Masterbuilt not working properly

I have the 40" digital version.  It has, according to their website, a 1200 watt element.  As for lasting way long, I'm calling BS on that one! I've had the heater connection burn out twice now mandating that I finish my pulled pork in the oven!  Also, I've replaced the control panel once...

Need help with a Masterbuilt 30" smoker, doesn't work!

Those are what we pellet stove owners call snap disks.  They can be had for many temperature setpoints.  In fact, you can get an adjustable one from Grainger for a very modest price.

MES 40 with Remote (Christmas Present)

Nope, I use an IV bottle!

MES 40 with Remote (Christmas Present)

I guess a whole wall of aluminum foil plus my steel door pretty well shields the remote, but that is strange that just your door or an ornament will cause the Maverick to go blank!  Can't explain that one!  I'm sure I could come up with some strange BS answer given enough time and beer!!!

MES 40 with Remote (Christmas Present)

I have the Sam's black version and love it except I just blew the wires off of the heating element last week!  You might want to take that little access plate off the bottom at the back and make sure everything is crimped on nice and tightly.  My remote works great on 'line of sight' but...

MES crapped out in middle of a smoke!

I have the 40" MES with the window.  I was about 4 hours into a Boston Butt pulled pork smoke when I went out to feed in some more wood.  Curiously, I saw no smoke so I looked at the temperature and it was down to 150!  The red light was on but no joy on the element. GREAT! says I.  I go in the...

Leatherneck Roll Call.... All Branches Welcome!

Every Vet devoted his/her time and effort to trying to make our country greater and deserve the country's respect, unlike many other groups now defiling our nation. Nuke subs 65-70 Pacific

    How Many Mes Owners Here?

Ummm, I can smell it all the way down here!  I drive my neighbors nuts about once a week with SOMETHING in the smoker!

Glad to see a fellow 'bubble head' check in!  Welcome!

    How Many Mes Owners Here?

I've used two different external meat thermometers and both have always read within at the most 4 degrees of the smoker's meat thermometer. Just did 18 pounds of pulled pork tonight.  Took 6 hours at 260 degrees.  OMG, that's good!  And at $1.49 a pound on sale, my freezer is full of 'future...

Leatherneck Roll Call.... All Branches Welcome!

I posted this 'heads up' over on another forum but really should have put it here.  It's not so much for we old farts who are either retired military on TRICARE or just old retired farts on Medicare but for the younger guys and gals who are eligible for VA health care and aren't making huge $$$...

    ACA warning for Vets

Not sure if this was a jab at me, but there was a thread asking for vets to check in and since there were a LOT of them, it only seemed natural to inform them of this hiccup in the ACA.

    ACA warning for Vets

I was reading my Medicare booklet just now and it said that if you keep Medicare Part B, you can continue with TRICARE after 65.

    ACA warning for Vets

My cousin is 70 and retired Air Force and he still gets TRICARE.....???  I'll ask him to make sure. I worry more about the young guys and gals getting out after one tour and assuming that they will need to get ObamaCare even though they have some VA coverage.

Any wood workers out there...... this is cool.......

Majorly neat!  I have a friend with a bigger lathe than that who makes bowls.  He loads the wood onto it with a fork truck!  No lie! My stuff is much smaller.  I make deer calls > pensandcalls.com

    ACA warning for Vets

I just got some info today from the VA about VA health coverage and how it relates to ObamaCare aka ACA that should be of great interest to Vets.  If you have VA coverage, it is considered 'minimum coverage' so that you wouldn't get fined every year for not having insurance.  HOWEVER, if you...

    Meat grinder problem

Yes, I meant to say 'ice water', but ice chips would be even better since the goal is to keep the meat temp below 40, I think.

    Meat grinder problem

If you're doing hot dogs, for sure, use a food processor adding a little water with each batch so it works.  If you are looking for a smaller grind size, like others said, put it back in the freezer until it's almost frozen.  Also, if you mix the meat with the seasonings after the first grind...
