I've never noticed an off taste, but then again, smoking is an excuse to drink beer! I've had my MES30 for two years and only clean the grids and water pan. I use Grease Off, let 'em stand for a couple minutes, then hit them with a green scouring pad and rinse. Never noticed any build up...

Newbe here, but thanks to all you generous folks I did a Boston Butt last night (and this morning) and it turned out great. I put it in at 5:00 pm and it was finally done at 10:00 am. Pulled it at 205 degrees after 235 degrees in the smoker. (Was 7.5 lbs) I put the smoke (oak) to it for 4 hours...
Just found this site. Been smoking for many years, but mostly deer sausage in a converted old frig. Bought a Masterbuilt electric and haven't looked back since.
Retired and living on a farm like a gentleman farmer should. ( lettin' someone else farm it now) Huntin', fishin',Model A Fords...
