Add to that the fact that when built by the ACoE (to help with the Kaskaskia River flooding problems), the lake was fifteen miles long and little over three wide, but then the added the bridge and cut us down to nine miles. The shallow shores brought the sailable width to just over a mile...
Our first sailboat was an old Cherubini Hunter 25 we sailed on Carlyle Lake in Illinois. Back then we drove a Jeep Wrangler and it would wreak havoc on The Better 9/10ths back. After a day of heeling (she called it healing) she'd sleep all the way back to St Peters!
Dan,
I have a medium Penn Squall II combo along with a Penn Battle III med/heavy 8' combo. Along with that I keep a bottom rig and several trolling lures for Mahi, tuna and whatever else wants to bite.
In the pic you see the Battle III with the Carolina rig. We caught a few mangrove snapper...
This is my new grill. It's a Magma Catalina (22.4"D x 17.5"W x 16.1"H) mounted to our radar/StarLink mast. Much smaller than the 665 Sq in I'm used to, for sure, but I can't complain because I still have a grill! 😁

These past few months have been spent getting our house ready to sell, which includes selling off alot of our belongings. We're trying to pare down our belongings to one storage unit. I will, of course, store my KJ and my Napoleon gas grill for future use.
By September we should be back in...
I apologize for the delay. It was a long day yesterday and then today was busy mowing our four acres. Here is last night's draft before i fell asleep.
Well, sometimes life just doesn't go your way. My cell phone camera decided it didn't want to work, so I rebooted it, still no joy. I got the...
We had some storms roll through last night that were nowhere near what we expected, nor what our friends to the east of us had to endure. Our prayers for those who were impacted.
At around 0130 hrs, checking the weather, I fired up the Classic KJ with some Jealous Devil and hickory.
A base of...
What really made the day even more fun was that I was reverse searing another tri-tip...
...and seeing how the eclipse affected radio communications (for the record, I didn't notice any changes).
