Would anyone happen to have a blueprint/pdf of a octagon/hexagon smoker? reverse or just offset.
I can find alot for propane builds. but as they are hard to come by in my country. i was thinking about building one out of sheet metal instead.
but cant seem to find any blueprint for it :)
Getting there!
got firebox and RF plate in and exhaust on today :D
planning to have it done by friday!
So finish the small things like grates and wood basket tomorrow. then paint, and then we doing a burn out in 2 days.
so excited! and thanks dave for all the help!
So upper would be say 1.6" tall 2" wide and
lower say 2.4" tall 5.2" wide?
that should be just around 15sq in right? "or 15.5 or something"
would that work for the air inlet? Im not so good with math, but i think i came up with the right numbers for them:P?
Planning on just doing slides
sounds good! :D was unsure what the plate was called haha.
how big of a gap should i leave from the end plate to the end of smoker for the smoke/heat to go up?
nono we still doing the reverse flow that you gave us dimensions for :)
Thought it was called baffle plates the plate that run the heat from firebox to the end and up over back :D
i thought it was 1 full plate from one end to other. did not know about "tuning plates" :D so glad i asked haha :D
So we are getting closer to getting most done.
but baffle plates! how?
Anyone who can link how they did theirs? and how much room should there be at the end of the plate that can let the warmth up and back to the meat?
Also how thick should the metal be for the baffle plate?
but yeah...
hahaha :D
Must be nice :P
guess you never run out of wood haha!
and yeah what you say makes sense, why else would you also eat the fruit aswell haha
the smoker you helped me with the sizes and such are comeing along nicely. cant wait to finish it!
So you would have no concerns over using the wood im getting :) ?
new to this whole season my self:) always just bought dried so never thought of it before haha
yeah i would def let it season for around 6 months.
yeah thats my thoughts aswell, i dont you think you can find any orchards, that dont spray for winter.
and as the farmer said it would be long gone by now.
he just cut alot of bits not to long ago.
he say it was last sprayed in august. so the sprayed stuff should be long gone now.
Would you guys use it?
since its been like 6 months since it was sprayed? "before the winter"
it will mostly be smaller branches, and chunks.
also seasoning it.
how...
Can i ask you another thing ? The exhaust how far up should it sit? or does that not matter? trying to figure out how far above the FB it should be. we cut the tank yesterday and work starts next week! :D
ahhhh... we work in mm/cm/m here. So thats why it did confuse me abit trying to convert everything haha!
Looks good tho!
So if i will do a normal offset in one of them. Can i use the same dimensions for the firebox and openings and such? and stack size and so furth ?
Few more questions.
Volume in cubic inches X 0.004 = Area under the RF plate in square inches
58 sq. in
#This is the one that really baffles me. makes no sense to me#
Volume in cubic inches X 0.004 = Area required at the end of the RF plate in square inches
58 sq. in
# If my tank is 21"...
Think so will have a proper read tomorrow.
How would you attach the stack ? Just make like a triangle piece on the side of the CC? And what diameter on the stack ? And how big of an opening from CC to stack.
