I am older, have been smoking meat for a good while now and I learned by observing all "those fancy useless processes" until I LEARNED how to do it. I am guessing "teaching moments" dont appeal to you Mr Crabby!
Don't know what part of the world you reside in but if you have an Atwoods in your area they sell the Lumberjack pellets for 8.99 a 20 lb bag if that is an option for you.
Beautiful brisket Slowmo, I assume that those briskets are choice or prime grade. They look very moist! Did you find the smoke profile to be stronger using two tubes as opposed to one?
As I have mentioned before I have not opened the package yet containing my A-MAZE-N-TUBE smoker but will...
Lumberjack Mesquite blend at the moment. I have not tried the 100% hickory, cherry or pecan blend as of yet. I dumped the full 20 lbs of mesquite blend in hopper and have a good bit still left. Atwoods sadly only carries 5 varieties of Lumberjack with only two of them being the 100% variety...
In your price range go for the Rec Tec RT 700. I had serious doubts about pellet smokers in general as far as smoke profile went when I was struggling to decide between Rec Tec and Yoder.
I eventually decided that although the Yoder appealed to me more visually but as a tool to cook with they...
Offset, charcoal/wood chunk cooker or otherwise at the end of the day is an outdoor oven fueled by one thing or another. And.....? I like them all! I am too lazy to go the stickburner route these days, but still like them as long as someone else is manning the pit. :emoji_laughing:
Concealed damage, it happens. I have been in the freight business for 30 some odd years and consignees scream because a freight company wont usually honor a claim for damage if no visible damage to container or packaging.
I am doing chuck roast and beef back ribs as I post, copious amounts of...
I picked up my RT 700 yesterday, assembled and did burn in.
My lid fits perfect so I may not use the Lava Lock gasket as planned, no smoke leaking from door.
Bad news is my smoke box looks pretty sad straight out of the box. I get to try out the vaunted customer service straight away.
I have just purchased a Rec Tec and it should arrive today, but no hands on experience. YET....Just from exhaustive research the past couple of months though on pellet smokers I would forget Traeger unless it was gifted to you.
I did not try any of the rubs, no more room in the pantry with all of the odds and ends that are in there now. lol Never met a sauce I did not like. The company line here in Tejas is no sauce....at least Central Texas anyway. I live in East Texas though and we like a little sauce. Closer to...
I finally came down off the fence and ordered the Rec Tec RT700 Gold bundle last night. Thank god because this has been a brutal experience for me. LOL
I have enjoyed reading this thread and your efforts to tweak this are appreciated. What I would like to know is has the smoke profile on the meat been enhanced considerably by use of this accessory?
Slomo and Mr. Foster I enjoy your back and forth (HOPE it is good natured) and appreciate both of your opinions. If not friendly bury the hatchet. We all like Q and the toys associated with it so enjoy one anthers knowledge. No disrespect to either of you.
