I microwave for 3 minutes, stir, another 3 minutes and then in. Most likely your just having airflow issues, even with the chiploader out. I highly suggest the mailbox mod, very very simple and flat out works.
For mine I was having similar issues but now all is well. I make sure my pellets are burning for a good five minutes ensuring those embers are deep. I then blow it out and if I keep going and it re-lights, it's go time. I have removed my chip loader completely and cut a 3x2 inch slot out of the...
Running an MES 40. Modified for airflow for the amazen tray. Purchased Amazen pellets and got 12 hr smokes out of the ones purchased (phenomenal)
Bought some B&B at Academy, damn things keep going out after 1-1.5 hrs of use. Nothing different, same spot outside, same temp bla bla.
Did microwave...

So they turned out very well! I say the homemade rub I use didn't really mesh with the smoke flavor, so that is noted. The meat was just juicy and tender as all get out, everyone enjoyed it and as I play around with different rubs/etc I may actually enjoy chicken more!
