    MES 40 Temp Issues

OK- I got the MB rewired and hooked up the Auber yesterday. Did a temperature test by setting the Auber to 225. Here is the possible issue. With the Auber set to 225 and then placing both a Maverick probe and a ThermoBrand probe next to the Auber probe inside the smoker, when the Auber display...

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Ok - The Auber just arrived. Lots of instructions in the operation manual. Do most users here do the program mode or do you guys set the Auber into Single Step mode? Probably going to be using this to maintain one temp. constantly with no recipes or changing of temps need during cooking. Thanks

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Set the temp on the Masterbuilt for yesterdays ribs smoke to be 250 (for ribs to actually cook at 225.) Monitored it with all 3 remote methods I talked about and most times it was running at the 225 area, which is where I wanted it to be for the ribs. The ribs came out perfect being smoked at...

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Yes, Going to go with the WS-1510ELPM. Still deciding on what external pit probe/food probe remote system to use. Just as a test this morning I fired up the smoker and placed my Maverick food probe, the built in MB food probe , and an old style dial type oven temp all next to the built in MB...

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Thanks again for all the help. I am going to order the Auber this weekend. I am in the middle of a smoker full of ribs and the Masterbuilt temp is all over the place. Piece of crap when it comes to electronics. They should just sell an insulated box with a heating element inside and a hole in...

    MES 40 Temp Issues

That is great advice. I really do not have much faith in the meat temp. probe that is built into the Masterbuilt. I always was using a separate temp. probe for meat temp.

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Maybe use the 2 probe Auber to control cabinet temp and food temp monitoring. plus use my maverick as an alert device if cabinet temp gets too high.

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Good advice Dr. I never leave the smoker unattended and due to OCD am constantly checking temp. I wasn't sure if anyone uses the 2 probe Auber Model: WSD-1200GPH . Thanks

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Anybody using a dual probe Auger PID for the MES40 Gen 2 instead of the single probe? Seems the 2nd probe on this unit , Model: WSD-1200GPH , may be useful to monitor internal temp of the food at the same time vs. using a maverick probe for the food?

    MES 40 Temp Issues

I have little faith in Masterbuilt smokers right now. At least this model. Support direct from Masterbuilt used to be good when I had a question. Not no more, I would have been better buying an apartment size 120 volt electric oven and cutting a hole in the side for the mailbox mod. with pellets.

    MES 40 Temp Issues

I think I came acrossed a forum topic in the past where a re-wire was done that eliminated the control temp setting and monitoring since it was handled by the Auber. Not sure if it kept the over temp safety function active or not. Not that I have a lot of faith left in that over temp. button...

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Thanks. No worries about the internal temp. overload sensor being bypassed? The Auber WS-1510ELPM unit must be a reliable unit. I'm surprised the Masterbuilt units has such wide temp. " fluctuations' (attempted to spell that dang word 10 times before I finally asked google - lol). I have two...

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Thanks for the response. How old was your unit? Was it still under warranty? My warranty is long since expired. Did you use the Auber WS-1510ELPM is see mentioned?

    MES 40 Temp Issues

Hello, MES40 Gen2 Model 20075315 All I am trying to find out is if there is a way to calibrate the temp on this smoker. I have searched the manual, support question, forums, etc. with no luck. The internal temp of the unit is running 23 to 25 degrees lower than the actual displayed/ set...

Housing a smoker in a shed?

Vented mine with 3" stove pipe through the concrete block wall. Only issue I get is on a windy day, the wind will blow the smoke back into the mailbox mod. I have. Trying to come upwith a solution for that. Maybe some sort of back draft damper?

Too bad you can't tell them to answer their phone or respond to emails when a customer has a problem.

New 40" 20075315 model and excessive white smoke?

Thanks Richie I just remembered that the water bowl was empty during the pre-season of the smoker and I had all that white billowing smoke then also. The AMNPS defiantly looks like the way to go. The whole purpose of buying an electric smoker was so I did not have to babysit it during cooking...

New 40" 20075315 model and excessive white smoke?

Will the meat get dried out with no water? I don't think this was steam as the water in the bowl didn't have a chance to get hot enough before the chamber filled with heavy smoke. I will try less chips also Thanks
