I have my plan somewhat finalized so here goes.
I picked up (2) 7# whole pork butts today. They each are bone in so I hope this will still be enough for 15 people.
I'm going to start them early Friday morning, finishing sometime Friday night and then simply re-heat them before the game on...
I'm planning on doing some pulled pork sandwiches for a tailgate party for the Brewer's game this year for about 15 people. I was planning on doing boston butts on my Masterbuilt vertical h2o smoker. Here are some questions I have.
1. How much meat should I start with in order to feed 15...
This was a brine for a salmon, but should work just fine for a Northern
2 Gal Water
2 Cups Kosher Salt
1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar
4 Tbl. Minced Garlic
2 Tbl Black Pepper
Soak fish for 4-6 hours
Here's my question, the pic with the 2 women in it, are they thinking "this is awesome, can't wait for some good Q" or is it more like "now what in the hell is he doing"...in my case it would most definately be the later. Anyway, awesome pic's, can't wait to see more. Anytime you can bust out...
What is the 'official' name for those cooking racks that consist of a horizontal bar with hooks of various lengths that you hang pots and kettles from over a fire?? Also, if anyone could recommend a good brand or place to pick one up, or ideas for constructing my own, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Made one of these this weekend and everyone absolutely loved it (sorry, no pics). Put 4 cans apple pie filling in DO and mixed in 1/2 can Sprite. Topped with 2 boxes yellow jiffy cake mix, cinnamon and sugar, Topped with 1/2 stick butter all cut up. 1 hour with 10 coals on bottom and 15 on top...
Thanks again for all the help. I did some camping this past weekend and after cooking 3# of bacon and a bunch of sausage links in my skillet and DO, all looks well.
Thanks for the replies. This was a Lodge Logic pan that had been un-used for a while and ahad a layer of thin rust on it, so I cleaned it really well with soap & hot water which didn't remove the rust, so I used some easy off oven cleaner and steel wool which took it back to bare metal. I...
I seasoned a new CI skillet in the oven tonight. I basically washed it, put on a light coat of crisco and baked @ 450 for 1 hour and let cool. At this point the pan looked really good, but I wanted another coat on it to be sure. Did the exact same thing as the first time but now my pan came...
When cleaning the microwave, I boil a 50/50 mix of h2o and white vinegar, let it sit on there for a couple minutes, all the crud wipes right off. I wonder if you filled your water pan with a similar mixture and let it boil and steam up in your cooker, if that would aid in clean up??
Nothing but problems from the ECB this weekend;
#1) Underestimated the effect of the wind on my cooking temps. Temp was jumping all over the place between 165* - 240* and my homemade wind break did nothing as the wind was swirling all over the place.
#2) Had smoke leaking out from every...
That's pretty good. For future reference, Marine and Soldier are not interchangable. Marine referes to hardchargin, death dealing leathernecks, soldier refers to them other guys (j/k, i appreciate all members of the armed forces...even you Army doggies).
x2 on the Henkels Four Star (stay away from the International Everedge). These are the best knives I've ever owned, hands down. I also own a single Wusthof Santoku knife and put it's quality in-line with the Henkels.
I've had this recipe for a while now, but haven't gotten around to trying it (I can't get past the whole powdered milk thing ). Others that reviewed it say it's excellent so maybe worth a shot.
