    Hi I'm sarge1947

Welcome to smoking!! I started in May as a new hobby but it kind of becomes a lifestyle.  I have to fire up that smoker at least once a week or I start craving some smoked meat.

    Starting the weekend early.

Forgot to add finished product.  Threw on some spam for the last couple hours and I have to say, DAMN, that stuff came out good.  Followed Jeffs recipe for that.

    Starting the weekend early.

Tunes, beer and BBQ. This is how you start the weekend. Roll that thin blue smoke. Mesquite to start the coals and finish with cherry.

They turned out good but I might try the 3-2-1 method next time. I live on Guam so we are one day ahead.

    Sunday Smoke Day.

Hafa Adai!! The weekend tradition continues.  Got a couple racks of spare ribs.  Used Jeffs rub for 1 and Sucklebusters Hog Waller for the 2nd.  Rubbed down last night and put on the grill at 8am.  Running a smooth 225-235.  Not gonna wrap cause I like tender but not falling apart.  Got to have...

    BBQ/SMOKING FORUMS

I peaked around on some of the others but got hooked here reading the forums.  People here are very friendly and helpful. I do recommend purchasing Jeff's rub recipe as well if for nothing else then just to support this site.  I have to admit I am becoming a smoke addict and loving the forums...

    Memorial Day Smoke Session

Today is one of the holidays to remember by brothers and sisters that served and be thankful for those that gave everything to support our way of life.  It is also one of the few days times I take the day off work.  Today I thought I would make productive use of my time and smoked 2 racks of...

    No Guts No Glory

I am actually surprised and impressed with this Chargriller competition pro.  I know it is considered a COS but the quality is not that bad.   I do have a question for you all.  Maybe it is just the cut of meat I am getting at the grocery store here (we do not have a butcher so can only get...

    Tropical smoker

Thank you for the welcome everyone.  My first smoke was a success and I can confidently say I am gonna love my new hobby.  Tomorrow I am jumping all in and filling the smoker with meat.   Got 2 pork butts, 2 racks of beef back ribs, 3 pork rib tips, potatoes and cabbage going on the smoker.  Go...

    No Guts No Glory

Last week I got my smoker, seasoned it and smoked my first pork butt.   I did some mods on the Chargriller Competition Pro and it held temperature pretty good.  I had to babysit it but did not have much problems keeping the temp between 200-250.  I pulled my butt off at 190 so fell just short of...

    Tropical smoker

The past few months i have been tying to find a new hobby. One day my wife and I were talking about a trip last year to Texas. We just drove around the state eating at different BBQ joints. That memory brought on the idea of getting a smoker. I got a chargriller competition pro and am...
