New wood storage overhang on other side to keep other types of wood.
New chimney
Old stove pipe.
Well, its been a year since my little western fed cedar smoke house build. With each smoke the food just gets better and better. Ive made this Thanksgivings turkey in it , plus so many other great...
Well i'm still experimenting with the smoke house, its been fun for sure. I bought a small welder so i will be fixing up another rack shortly!
I do like the wet wood shavings as i can pack a bunch of it in the firechamber over hot coals , I know soaked wood chunks work as well but havent used...
My daughter Was a big help, she just likes to help build things, my 2yr old was the tool scattered but he was part of the help. When I dropped stuff he picked them up. Finding the clay flues were a bit of a challenge, here in Georgia not to many real chimneys are going into homes. had thought...
I am able to get it to hot smoke as long as I leave the fire chamber door open to draw in lots of air. I put a metal stove pipe section into the clay flue as well. The metal helps move the heat through better I believe. I have gotten my temps up to 300 degrees at the lower cooking racks , and...

Well added some extra's on the exterior today. Posts for the roof overhang, a shelf for wood or food tray and some other small odds and ends. Got a chicken and some salmon in there right now for dinner!!!
I like the idea of the 55 gallon drum for the firebox. After I got my clay flue put in I started to have second thoughts and kinda wished I gone the drum route. Looks like a great build!!!
daughter wanted me to put up this old No.7 barrel plank and horse rack for good luck along with Old Glory. We used some scrap pieces to make a easy slide lock for the door since my 2yr old started to treat it as a play house.
Thanks One Eyed Jack, yesterday we cut some battens to cover up the gaps in the cedar planks. In the few weeks we've had this up outside the wood settled as I was told to expect. We left the battens short so we still have some venting up toward the top. I also cut up some expanded metal for some...
