Big fan of the fan (intended) for pellicle but do not think it would be a good idea to run it the whole smoke. 30m is all you need for a good pellicle. From here, I would suggest using dust instead of pellets and see if that stays lit but not a SmokinTex owner.
I posted the following on the Smokin-it forum but thought I would do the same here.
I have a opportunity to buy a SmokinTex commercial analog smoker with two heating elements and I would like to convert it to digital/Wi-Fi with the addition of a Smokin-it digital - Wi-Fi controller. I've...
Good question. If I have other items to smoke, I will move them to my SmokinTex Electric, if nothing is going on after the ribs, I will move them back to the PBC on the grate or depending on space, I will used the split grate if I want to hang something else.

You could maybe post on the Smokin-it section of the SMF rather than the SmokinTex. You might get some advice from other Smokin-it owners who frequent this forum . And I hope you get the controller sealed up well. RTV650 might work if you find gaps. Check with Steve.
I purchased a Smokin It 3.5 pro Series last month with the PID and can tell you that it cannot determine or regulate its own temp if the outside ambient temp is freezing. I've done extensive testing and find wild temp fluctuations (until the unit warms up for about 3 hours) of up to 40 degrees...
I would look on Craigslist and FB Marketplace for a used Smokin-It, Cookshack or SmokinTex electric smoker.
They are all stainless steel, and most models are analog controlled which is less susceptable to weather when being stored outdoors.
This forum discussion is for users of SmokinTex smokers to give their best advice on how to use and maintain, but moreso on smoking the most tasty food around with these devices. I’d love to hear how you all use these smokers to make your favorites as well as your disasters, so we all can learn...
Hi all. My name is Patrick. I’ve been smoking for about 10 years - first in a barrel grill and now with a SmokinTex 1400. I mostly make hot smoked salmon, ribs, chix thighs and cold smoked cheeses. I also like to mix smoked food into other recipes (like pimento cheese and salmon rillett)...
Can I replace the temp dial on my Smokintex with a toggle switch to function as a on/off switch
It fluctuates so much (40+ degrees on the high side) that the temp nob is useless IMO.
Im getting a PDI and would like to just install a on/off toggle.
Could someone please recommend what kind and...
I looked at their replacement parts. They use a standard thermostat with 2 wires connected to it so as long as your switch has the correct current rating you should be good to go.
I'd probably just bypass the dial with a wire nut being two wires if you're getting a plug and play Auber. Unplug the smoker from the Auber and bring the PID inside out of the humidity when not in use.
...The other source for nice elements is cook shack or smokintex just get a combination of replacement elements to equal 1600-1800 watts
With the aftermarket version of the charbroil you will be into it about 80 bills with a box and connectors……
It depends on budget. The MES is popular around here. But if looking for an all stainless steel unit, Smokin-it, Cook Shack, or SmokinTex. Not listed in any particular but I do have a Cook Shack and Smokin-it and they are great, very reliable. Both companies have a user forum.
...Now to try and get WIFI on my new PRO 5D WIFI hooked up, I have been having a problem getting the smoker to link up.
I really miss the SmokinTex forum, there was a whole lot of great info that had been figured out over the years with using electric smokers and great recipes that is now...
Sounds like a rousing tasty success jcam! Smoke on! SmokinTex claims they will bring back their forum that ran for many years but I have seen nothing for over 2 years.
...50 years, and smoking food for about 40 years using Weber charcoal and lump and propane, cold smoking and for the past decade or so, a SmokinTex 1400. There seem to be plenty of techniques to use on the different equipment to get desired results.AS I am a big fan of good bourbon, I favor...
...2 original USA made Trager Pro series BBQ 124 and BBQ125 I have had for about 25 years, I also have a couple offset stick burners. I have 2 SmokinTex 1460's also that Have been smoking on for years. The SmokinTex cooks just a little bit different than my new SI PRO 5D WIFI but I think it's...
