    Grate question for Uds

Thanks. I considered a rod but had the extra grate laying around. Have you used meat hooks before? Are the results better than just laying on a grate?

    Grate question for Uds

Had a thought / random idea for my Uds. I have seen pit barrel cookers and smokers with sausage hooks and was intrigued by the hanging smoking technique. I don't have the funds to upgrade to a different smoker and I enjoy my Uds. Anyway my idea was to take a spare grate I have and remove several...

No room to thaw a brisket

Thanks fellas cooler with ice sounds good. I don't have a thermometer to make sure it's below 40 so I'll aim for mostly thawed. If the inside is still slightly frozen an extra hour on the smoke time should take care of it.

No room to thaw a brisket

I have a frozen solid packer brisket and no room in the fridge to thaw it for a few days. Has anyone gone direct from freezer to smoker with any luck? Or have a good non fridge thaw technique? Keep in mind I'm no handyman but I built a no weld smoker that I let roll overnight and slept soundly...

    Smoker > crockpot

Probably right on that one al. Just figured with the temp/hands off nature of crockpot cooking it would be the easiest batch of recipes to try

    Smoker > crockpot

Sounds good I may have to go through my wife's crockpot cookbooks

    Smoker > crockpot

As my wife is a crockpot cook it dawned on me that a smoker is similar in the low and slow cooking style. Especially for us with Uds, electric, or pellet smokers. So my question is have anyone of you tried a "crockpot" recipe in your smoker?
