Picked up this the other day when I was on St Thomas. Price was good enough and I needed someghing to make for a work function for tonight.
I used a tweaked version of Jeff's rub recipe, gave it a healthy dose...wrapped it up and got it ready for a long day on the Weber Kettle (yesterday)...

Don't get me wrong - I love the results of the BBB, but next time going for more traditional bacon. That said, this stuff will be a huge hit with those I share with here as NO ONE does this kind of thing here!!

Figured I'd post up the results of my first try at bacon. Todd hooked me up back in September with a sampler of the cure he uses, and I finally gave it a try. Used a butt I brought back from my last visit stateside and here is the result.
Cured for 10 days, then soaked to mellow a bit before...
with insulation removal...just be prepared for the worst and you'll be fine. Gloves taped to a long sleeve shirt, face mask of some kind so you don't breathe in fibers.
Have someone else brush you off before removing the clothes & for God's sake if you're married don't remove the clothes in...
It's a gadget that really works well. For me, getting one shipped here has been an answer to what I needed. Todd is also a guy that applauds other smoke generators and ideas...just many of us use his and thinks it's one of the best.
I too never considered this a do it yourself build...
