    I'm having trouble locating a small amount of 1/4" plate in my area. I have however, been able to locate 1/4" diamond plate (steel not aluminum) What's the difference as far as welding and actual functionality? Would it be a good substitute?

    For the grates/baffle. I know there's a 4 inch gap between the baffle and the cooking grate, but how far above the firebox opening should the baffle be?     It's cool, still appreciate the comment. I actually just finished soaking. Took a good solid 2 hours of soaking in an ice bath but it's chilling in the fridge now. Gonna get it on the smoker friday night and let it go for 24 hours most likely.
