I would give myself 16 hours to be safe. If you want to start feeding at 5pm, I would start about 11pm. If you get done early you can wrap in foil and then in towels and put in a cooler. Each butt ail smoke differently. I cooked 2 3 pound roasts and one got done one hour before the other...
Good for you. Smoking is addicting and fun. Just don't get discouraged the first few times. It takes practice to learn your smoker. Once you get it down there's nothing like it. Any questions just ask on this site and someone will help you. I just did the mods to mine myself. I got where I...
This is the one I have and I love it. It is a lot of work though. For me it was and is a great first smoker to learn on. A lot of people love them and a lot hate them. For me I would save the 125 and spend like 60 bucks to do the mods and use the rest to buy charoal, wood, and meat.
I finally got the mods done on my ecb. My question is how much difference in temps should I expect. I have had pretty good success without the mods but I think with the mods will be better. Should I just use the minion method or just add new lump as it goes. Without mods I addednlump about...
Figure 2 sandwiches a person. 2 of each depending on the size should do. I have fed 8 people with 5 lbs of pork and everyone had at least 3 sandwiches. Hope that helps.
Saturday during football season. That is my only time I really get to relax. Look forward to this thing you call retirement, just not sure I will ever get there.:biggrin:l
Wind is my big problem as well. If the wind blows just right my temps drop dramatically. I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I need to find the time to do more mode tonit.
I got a butt in now should be done in about an hr and then rest for a bit. Trying a couple different things as far as sauce and im using jj finishing sauce.
Good luck, but I would get it on sooner if you want to eat by noon. I would figure 2 hours a pound and if that's the case it will be about 4 before it gets off the smoker. Just food for thought.
