Hi all, I stopped by the local Green Mountain dealer when they had their black friday sale on. Couldn't resist the chance to get into pellet smoking. Have been smoking using various smokers before, but not pellets before. They were sold out, but ordered some more, & picked up mine on 12/6/17...
Am thinking of purchasing a packer, seperating point from flat, then cutting flat in 2. Should I then lay the 1/2 flat or hang it? Am wondering if hanging would allow infared to penetrate better. Thanks

Don't use waxed. I found 18" white butcher paper at Sam"s Club, but it was in an unusual spot so I had to ask where it was. Pink butcher paper is available 0nline at WebstrauntStore.com

Thanks Uncle Eddie & SkiDog for the replies. Did as you suggested & then did the first cook on a small prime rib that we got at a reduced price. Didn't want to experiment on a expensive prime rib. Turned out great.
And Merry Christmas to one and all.

Hi all and Merry Christmas. Just received a new Char-Broil SRG & want to use it for Christmas Day meal. Did quite a bit of browsing on forums, but didn't find much. Anyone with a SRG have any info, I would appreciate any & all comments.

I have had a Bradley 4 rack digital for over 4 years now, & tried to keep the oven warm in windy conditions. Added a 2nd element & Auber PID after enclosing in a plywood 4 sided fold up shelter that included a top with chimney extension. All helped some. Then 1 day while smoking some store...
I had a GFI problem with my Bradley. It would trip after several hours of use. Tried a number of things that didn't help. Then after examining the element I noticed there was a grease bridge built up over time from element to inside metal liner. Took some cleaner and scrubbed clean. Problem...
I agree that they are a PITB, however I have found if you can plug the suspected appliance into a different GFI circuit using a heavy duty extension cord to see if it trips that GFI circuit as well can indicate if GFI is bad or not. I happen to have a 50 ft 10 gauge extension so voltage drop...
I have a Bradley Digital with the 900 watt element mod that worked fine for a while. It is stored in our walk out basement so it stays dry. When the GFI started tripping after about 2 hours into smoke several times, I tried using a 3 wire to 2 wire adapter to see if it still tripped, & it...
Interesting thread as I too like to experiment. Mine took a different path than yours, I put 1 partially burned briquette (from a previous weber grilling; closed off air when done grilling which left enough briquette to just fit in 12" tube). Filled tube with cherry & pecan pellets leaving...
Hi all,
I recently purchased some Woodmaster cherry pellets to use in my A-maz-n tube smoker. They did not want to stay lit. So I tried putting pellets in some shallow pans, set in the sun on warm, dry, & breezy days. Pellets were about 3/4 inch deep & stirred about once every hour, then...
One more thing to check is there any other appliance like a frig or freezer on the same circuit drawing current. If there is there will be a voltage drop caused by current going to them.

Don't know if this helps, but I think in the U S the weight of paper is what a ream (500 sheets) of 17" x 22" paper weighs, although this may only apply to business papers.

Thanks for replies. Yup with the memory issue, then add some health issues + I have never been this old before either. Bad combination.

With a number of storms around the country, some wood becomes available. However if you get some remember that wood with a lot of moisture takes much longer to season than wood that is cut with no leaves on the tree

jted is right on with his calculation & formula. Smokers with electric elements in their units would save some frustration if they purchased an inexpensive multimeter & practice using it before a problem shows up. That way if a problem shows up during a smoke they have a means of...
The relay is to increase the amps that the controller can safely handle. The PID makes it possible to control the temp to within 1 or 2 degrees, but requires some wiring changes. The Bradley comes with one 500 watt element for heating plus a 125 watt to produce smoke. I added the PID so I...
