My trip to REC TEC HQs

My son and I took a trip to Augusta Georgia today to pick up a REC TEC pellet grill.  After a 3 hour drive to get there, we were greeted by some extremely friendly people and proceeded to get the deal done for an RT-680, the searing kit and the stainless shelf.  It took less than 10 minutes and...

Tried a new salmon recipe for dinner

I decided to break out the grill after work and do some small salmon fillets I had for me and my son.  He's a very picky eater, so I wasn't sure if he would like it, but he called his mom to tell her how good it was. The rub: 3TBS of Dark Brown Sugar 1TBS of Chili Powder 1TBS of Cumin Salt...

    Seasoning a Smoker???

I never thought about coating the inside with Pam, but I guess that would be a quicker way.  I typically go high heat for about an hour to get rid of all the bad stuff and then do a couple pounds of bacon.

    Re-Introduction from North Carolina

I'm in Lumber Bridge, but the only way anyone knows about this tiny place is because we used to have the greatest BBQ all you can eat buffet in NC called Chason's.  It burnt to the ground years ago, leaving us back in the stone age........ It's about halfway between Fayetteville and Lumberton.

    Re-Introduction from North Carolina

I've been registered here for a while and like to come in and read, but haven't been very active in the past, but that's about to change.   I began smoking a couple years ago when I bought a cheaper propane smoker and have used that time to perfect a lot of recipes.  My co-workers benefit from...

My 1st attempt at pulled pork

9 hours and it just hit 160. Almost time to wrap it. Normally I wouldn't really care much about the time, but I just heard thunder, so I'm worried that this parade may get rained out. I'm hoping that it doesn't hit us, but if it does, I will have to finish it in the oven since I put the...

My 1st attempt at pulled pork

7 hours in and I think we've hit a bit of a stall.  The temp has been stuck at around 150* for the past hour. Must be patient.....  Must be patient......

My 1st attempt at pulled pork

Yeah, I decided to sleep in this morning and didn't get it started until around 7:30, so this will probably be my midnight snack and then lunch tomorrow for everyone. It's the weekend and my time to relax, so I'm not really in any hurry. It gives me time to sit outside until I get bored and...

My 1st attempt at pulled pork

Being transplanted into Southeast NC about 10 years ago, both my boys and I have been in love with Carolina pulled pork for years, so after buying my smoker 3 weeks ago and successfully smoking 2 of the best racks of ribs I've ever had, 2 chickens, 2 pork loins and a batch of smoked salmon, I...

    New guy from NC

I've been lurking here for a few weeks, studying and learning because I bought a cheap propane smoker after wanting to get into smoking for a few years. I didn't really know how much I would enjoy it or how good I would be at it, so I didn't want to invest too !much at first. After following...
