Ok, I've decided it's time for a good cleaning of my MES. I got over anxious when I first got it, and did several smokes before I read about things like wrapping the trays and such with foil to help with cleanup. So my smoker is in need of a good Spring cleaning. So I thought a cleaning thread...
Hi Leah,
I live in Myrtle Beach, so not as familiar with the Charleston area as I should be, but will be glad to help ya in any way I can. If there are specific questions you have, just PM me. I don't think you'll be disappointed in your move south!

Welcome aboard, Captain. Lots of great people here ready to help if you need it. Have fun and enjoy your stay. Nice to see another martial artist here. Countless years of Shotokan and
Jeet Kune Do myself. Always wanted to take some Gracie to improve my grappling skills.
I've had my MES 40 for almost a year now. Bought it at Sam's for $299. Mine has worked flawlessly, but can't speak for all of them. But based on how mine has performed so far, I can recommend it for an electric.
Hi James, and welcome from your neighbor to the east, in Myrtle Beach SC. My family and I really like the Stone Mountain area. Been there many times. Lots of great people here ready and willing to help you when you need it.
Looking good so far! Be sure to let us know how it turns out, and what you think. I've been wondering about a corned beef myself, so I have a particular interest.
Hello Jonathan, and welcome from Myrtle Beach SC. Lot's of friendly and helpful people here, willing to help you. I've got a Masterbuilt 40", so if I can help you at all, just let me know.
Good advise..thanks. Wonder why the cherry gives you problems? Is it just a 'wetter' wood? I have some cherry chips, but mostly I use hickory, but also have some apple. Just curious.
Thanks again Bear. I definitely want a Maverick. One of my next few purchases for sure.
Do you have any air flow issues with your AMNPS in the MES? I've read about some people having problems keeping the pellets going.
I do have the 2nd gen with the side vent. Any suggestions you might could...
Thanks for the response and the advise, Bear. I think AMNS or AMNPS is my answer, as far as the smoke goes.
I want to get a stick burner later, but since the wife bought the MES for me as a gift, I think I better get my use out of it for awhile, if I know what's good for me! lol
Actually...
I'm still new to smoking, and am trying to learn as I go. I have some general questions that I hope some of you MES experts can help me with. I'm using wood chips, so all my questions relate to those. I may look at getting an AMNPS later, but for now want to use the supply of chips I have.
My...
What they said /|\. I have the MES 40 also. Still pretty new to it, but have done some good butts with it. While the bark won't be as good as a stick burner, you can get a decent one and some good smoke infusion if you experiment with the rub (if you use one) and the chips. I've read a lot about...
Hi James....Welcome to the forum! Lots of good people willing to help you here. I'm pretty new to smoking also, but I have an MES 40 too, so if I can help you I will.
