I ordered a 5 rib from BJ's Club and was really ticked to see that they gave me "select", instead of "choice". They also charged $7 a pound. Some wholesale club. I can buy "select" all over town for $7 a pound. Apparently, they now only give "choice" if it's boneless. Oh, well, anyhow, I...
I made a mistake and ordered twice as much prime rib than we need. I've already prepped the whole thing for the smoker with a rub, etc. Think I could cut it in half and freeze the seasoned remainder for awhile, rather than cooking it all right now?
Thanx,
Fred. :help:
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but I use Easy Off grill cleaner...works great and no more toxic than when it's used in an oven. Been using Easy Off for decades and I'm still looking down at the grass. I'm not into going through a bunch of hoops for such an easy project. I should...
How soon after, did you go ahead and kill that cow?
Looks great! Sounds like a plan for Christmas eve for me.
OOPS. I forgot...I have to do a turkey Christmas morn, so I think I'll try this one New Years Eve.
Kudos and another bear hug to the Bear.
Fred
Thanx Woodcutter,
I'll keep that in mind. I wonder if I would mix with hickory, and I smoked some burgers, I would get that grilled char taste with a hint of smoke.
:grilling_smilie:
I think I'll try that. Wonder what the ratio should be?
Anyone use charcoal pellets for the AMNPS yet?. I bought some in my last order, but have no idea why. Must be a suggestion or two out there. :help:
Thanks,
Fred
Thanks there, Akron. I agree that the blend may tone down the hickory. My wife and daughter aren't too fond of hickory, so I thought I might get away with it with this blend. I'll have to wait and see if someone that's used it knows for sure. I also got with this delivery some of the...
Anyone ever try the Pitmaster blend of pellets on turkey? I'm thinking of trying it tomorrow and wondering if I'll end up a hero or a zero.
Would appreciate any thoughts or experience prior to takin' the leap.
Thanks,
Fred
Just a footnote to this; I've been smoking our Thanksgiving...
If you have no breeze, as is often the case in my garage, the fan works wonders. I don't need it all the time, but when I do, especially on a long smoke, I like to make sure the air is flowing in the box. Works great for me.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned this, but every so often, I need to resort to the setup below, in order to keep some air flowing. Depends on our weather as to having enough of a breeze in the insulated box of the MES30.
Good luck and smoke on...:grilling_smilie:
