    Needle Valve

I was so excited to get a complete needle valve assembly by Bayou for my Brinkman smoker just in time for Independence Day.  Unfortunately, we could not get the old line unscrewed.   Brinkman smokers aren't the sturdiest smokers in the world so we didn't want to force it, or the whole thing...

More pork butt on the smokin-it #3

Looks great but I just have to say that two pork butts from a Costco in Connecticut would run about $40.  I should move!

    Regulating the Temperature

I know, Roller..  Actually I ordered a propane regulator kit online thanks to S2K9K and I'm waiting for it to arrive.  When it gets here and I smoke using it for the first time, I'll post.

    Regulating the Temperature

Steve, Before we got our smoker, I smoked everything on my Weber propane grill.  I actually regulated it much better but the prep time was a pain.

    Regulating the Temperature

Brian, Sounds like you have the same problem I have.  You would think the lowest setting would be something like 200° instead of 250°.  It makes more sense.  My problem seems to be that since I smoke so infrequently, translating the temperature I'm given in the recipe into the temperature I...

    Regulating the Temperature

S2K9K, Thanks a million.  My local hardware store had no idea what I was talking about and quite frankly, neither did I.  But thanks to your link, I bought one online.  Too late for today's pork butt but that's OK.  The summer is just starting!

    Small Emergency, Sorry

LOL, this is what happens when you live in the Northeast.  I can't find a brisket larger than 5 lbs.

    Small Emergency, Sorry

I'm sure we Newbies are real pains..... I bought a very small pork butt (3 lbs) that is held together with a mesh, I assume so it won't fall apart while cooking.  Should I take it off before I rub it and smoke it in a 8X8 aluminum pan?  Or rub it with the mesh on and then smoke?  I don't want...

    Regulating the Temperature

I have a Brinkman propane smoker that I've had for 3 years.  In the whole time I've had it I've had nothing but problems getting the temperature under 250°.  First I moved it into a shaded area on our deck which helped a little, then I propped open the upper door which works most of the time but...

    Hello

I'm fairly new to smoking - about 3 years.  I'm great at ribs but have screwed up a brisket a few time which scared me a bit so experimenting is off limits.  I'm retired and I love to cook and garden.  I'm really looking forward to getting some help so I can smoke any meat.
