Gave the smokers a rest and fried some chicken up tonight.

Marinated in buttermilk overnight, then coated in flour with some salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and some of my Hot Cock Nashville Hot rub. Served with some craft beer battered fries and some coleslaw the wife whipped up.

    Ribeye roast with new rub

Awesomeness! At first when I read the thread title and saw ribeye, then that rub, my heart sank as its not really made for beef and was afraid I ruined a prime rib on ya, then saw pork. 😆 Glad you liked it though, that one is my go-to for pork loin.

It's all fun and games until your kid decides she's coming for your crown.

Tomorrow she's going to do a pork tenderloin, and then she's in charge of the shotgun shells for new years day

What does a typical 11 year old spend their money on? Video games? Clothes? Candy? Nope...not our kid. My 11 year old wanted to use a portion of her Christmas money to buy her very first smoker, all by herself. She got an ASMOKE AS350 mini pellet smoker at Menards for $89. She's already trying...

    Cali-style Steak Burritos

Either peanut oil or beef tallow. Depends on how much tallow I have and what I'm making.

    Cali-style Steak Burritos

I have Masterbuilt’s Electric Turkey Fryer but tend to usually deep fry in an enamel coated cast iron dutch oven...just seems easier. In fact, frying up some chicken later tonight for dinner.

    Cali-style Steak Burritos

Eggs aren't in the future plans for this (my youngest hates them), but I am considering making them into eggrolls next time...be like mini chimichangas. 🤤

    Hello from WI

So I see you're comfortable with pizza and barbecue, but how are your skills in terms of something like Albanian cuisine? Oh, and howdy sir!

Christmas gift exchange... whadya get? 🎄🎅

Just tried the bourbon, @JLinza ...pretty good stuff. Reminds me of some stuff I got that's made out in Virginia named Axe Handle Bourbon. Now LET'S GO PACK!

Christmas gift exchange... whadya get? 🎄🎅

Checking in....I was paired with @JLinza as mentioned earlier, who was nice enough to ship me some local sausage, jerky, seasoning, sauce....and BOURBON. Thanks again! I managed to get one piece of the jerky after my 2 daughters deemed it delicious and devoured it. (they left one little piece...

    Cali-style Steak Burritos

My kids love burritos so when prepping our prime rib for this year, I saved all the trimmings from squaring it up and took two 1/2" slices off of it for burrito usage. Marinated the meat in my homemade chimichurri for 24 hours, grilled them up on the Weber Mini Q, and diced. Rolled up in an...

Apparently the wife still kinda likes me.

Yeah...really love the feel of the Loki Blackout Edition (top right in the pic below). I can't wait to use them tomorrow.

    Christmas Eve Dinner

Snacks and appetizers on tap for today...and of course brandy slush. Wife is in charge of Christmas Day eats and decided to go with a Gen-X/80's theme to show the kids how much better things used to be. 😆

    Christmas Eve Dinner

In our family we do our "fancy meal" Christmas Eve, then stay in our pj's and have snacks/appetizers Christmas Day. So tonight's meal was prime rib smoked on the CharGriller Gravity, twice baked potato casserole, and hot honey carrots with asparagus. The main character of tonight's feast. 9.87...

Local To Your Area Recipe Thread?!

My area isn't well known for cuisine, we're more into cocktails. So....here is the official state cocktail for Wisconsin: The Brandy Old Fashioned Sour. In a rocks glass muddle a sugar cube, a Luxardo cherry with a spoonful of the syrup, a slice of orange (do NOT muddle the rind, just the flesh...

    Chili. The real stuff.

I typically use pasilla as well in mine but the Mexican market here was out, so just omitted them this time. I get my onions and jalapeños from the pico, and I deglaze the dutch oven with a Modelo after searing the beef. Sounds like yours is a tad different yet very similar.

    Chili. The real stuff.

Take the chipotle and arbol chili out and it shouldn't be too bad. My wife is a wimp in terms of spice and can handle this. She complains but still eats it 😆
