Oh, I think I have one of those

I have been grilling since I was old enough to figure out how to light charcoal, cooking over on open fire, and smoking meat for a few years now. This site got me interested in dutch oven cooking. I have what all of my friends call a "dutch oven" but it's not the camp style, no legs, no rim on...

    Easy Dutch Oven Cobblers

This recipie shall be my first attempt at cooking with a dutch oven. I plan on using canned peaches/pie filling. Question though. If using fresh fruit, do I need to add liquid to it or maybe just some sugar?

    Boston Baked Beans

In the smoke?? When it comes to beans nothing makes me happier than the traditional recipe for Boston Beans. I've got a good one for cooking in the D.O. but it gets baked at 350. Does anybody out there have one that's adjusted timewise, of whatever else I would need to change to cook them in a...

    Howdy from small town Iowa

Thanks for the welcome everybody, this seems like a really cool place. And yes, Iowa is pretty much a matrix of small towns in between patches of corn. I live in Monroe. It's about 10 minutes north of Lake Red Rock. And surprisingly we do have a 3 story apartment complex here, I think this...

    Corned beef

AWESOME IDEA! I live about 10 minutes from Red Rock. It's a great camp if you can find room, a lot of snowbirds there who book it up all year. Marion County park (Knoxville) is also a good little camp and real friendly for group camps.

    guess what!? You've got a smoker. . ..

Had time for a short brine, thanks, the idea on the cold water thaw helped a bunch. I made a stuffing of green and red onions, lime, and some dry italian dressing, added a splash of apple cider. I kept some cider in the pan and basted every time I opened the somker. Had good luck holding at 225...

    Painful lesson learned

OUCH MAN! When my oldest was about three I was out in the driveway getting a roast from my old Weber kettle, I sat the lid down on the driveway and turned toward the grill. Out of nowhere my daughter ran right up to the lid and threw both hands right on it. (Last I knew she was inside with her...

    Howdy from small town Iowa

Hi! My name is Brian but I answer to Breck. Not because it's a brand of cheap shampoo and other hygene products, but because my last name is Breckenridge. I'm not nessicerily a smoking virgin, but pretty darn close. Have done some heavy petting with a KC smoker and a few turkeys. I live in an...
