What in the Sweet Baby Jesus is going on? Meat prices.

I would love to go back into cattle because I used to love raising them but just can't afford to get back into it and I would have to run such a large heard to be "comfortable" and even though we still have a lot of the land it isn't enough without renting and the land prices are getting...

    Post your favorite knife!

Been carrying a Leatherman for 25yrs basically, since I was a younger kid I always was messing with pocket knives a day doesn't seem to go by where I don't use my Leatherman as long as it's in my pocket. Don't know if I have a "favorite" knife at the moment but I got various knives that are used...

What in the Sweet Baby Jesus is going on? Meat prices.

Did you know that part of the reason we can't get some things imported like a Toyota Hilux or exasperated prices on items can be traced back to selling chickens to Germany? I'm sure there are more cases but this guy does a great job on his military history and these business things

    Stuffing Game Bags

Years ago when I was getting started with a cheap grinder, actually was probably still using a hand crank, I sacrificed a cheap plastic cup and cut the bottom out. Then I would slide the bag on and throw globs of meat in then press thigs as I went in the bag. Now days I use vac seal bags when I...

    Goat meat

This interests me as I have heard more than a few in the hunting circles talk about certain animals taste nasty like goat which I haven't found yet. Made a chunk of backstap a while back from my Texas Aoudad and thought it was fine, nothing outstanding but not offensive either. I am guessing...

Think I found a nice little side hustle.

Really cool and it looks like you really do nice work. I have tried to figure out various side hustles in the past but normally come back to different problems. Biggest is lack of free time these days, I am trying to spend more family time than I used to and at what point does an enjoyable hobby...

    Firewood in smoker

I got no shortage of Box Elder around either, just haven't messed with it yet. At some point I mean to cut, split and season some out for testing. I just have so much better options that I normally just clean up the messes of the boxelders and into the burn piles.

    Firewood in smoker

Sounds like you got the right plan to me. Only time I buy "Smoker Wood" is B&B in varieties I we don't have up here like Pecan and Cherry. Got all kinds of oak and ash around the farm, have had very good results over the years with ash

    This is different.

Not sure I would want to put aluminum on burning coals, ever seen when a can gets put into a hot enough fire, but the gas grill no problem. If I had to resort to using a gas grill and wanted to try to get a little smoke I would use this stuff called aluminum foil, make a packet, put desired...

    Pork steaks and ribs

It's been a long time since I've seen pork steaks up here, wife and I used to really like them and I did mine on the gasser as well as that is all I used to have. I've had that pickle de gallo before and it was different but good. Thanks for the reminder to keep my eyes open for pork steaks more...

    Hunting And Fishing Thread!?!

Bobcats are really cunning and elusive. I know reliable stories of an old trapper in western ND that was great at catching them with some of his tricks. Lots of people figured there weren't that many but he would catch quite a few, maybe there weren't that many because he kept them in check but...

    Santa Maria Rub

Been a while since I made a TT but I normally did the trusty SPGO. Normally I never really measured I just put down everything by dusting and eyeball the Kosher Salt, fresh cracked black pepper then the onion and garlic powder dusting. Never had any complaints.

    Maid-Rite Recipe?

Tried Made-Rite years ago in Iowa when I used to work down there all the time, our older crew chief always talked about how good they were. Don't remember anything outstanding and never ate at one again, kind of a good thing we paid with our per diem versus out of our own pocket. If I had to...
