    Lucky Butt w/Q-view

Good excuse to upgrade to the 733. Luckily I picked up a Maverick BB-22 on sale at BB&B a while back for just such an occasion, doesn't have the dual probe but is accurate for IT of the meat.

    Lucky Butt w/Q-view

Smoked with 50/50 apple and cherry chunks. Bone fell out as soon as I started to pull. Nice and moist...just the way I like it! Thanks for looking!

    Lucky Butt w/Q-view

So I've been drooling all week looking at everyone's delicious smokes and knew I had to fire up the WSM. Thawed a butt in the fridge thinking I'd smoke tonight for a Sunday feast. Checked the weather and the forecast called for storms tonight clear today-change of plans. Rubbed last night (sorry...

Is this a safe Sealant for Smoker Interior?

I, by no means claim to know much about it- I just looked at the MSDS and passed the info on. 300 seemed to be the degree at which toxicity becomes an issue. I'm sure you'll find guys here that have much more knowledge than I do on the subject.

Is this a safe Sealant for Smoker Interior?

Looking at the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) I would say absolutely not safe to use in a cooking environment. http://www.permatex.com/documents/MSDS/01_USA-English/81311.pdf

    WSM 18.5 heat control

Ryan One thing I forgot to ask- are you using the factory thermometer on the lid? These can be off by 20 degrees or more and don't truly reflect the temp at smoking level. There are many available digital thermometers available- Maverick makes very accurate devices and are widely used by the...

    WSM 18.5 heat control

I've been smoking on a WSM 18.5 for some time and experienced similar issue's when I first got started. One thing I learned along the way was to add hot water to the pan. I have to agree with cliffcarter, how much lit charcoal did you start with and did you let it fully ash over when you added...

    7. All categories must be cooked on wood, charcoal, gas grill or a smoker It looks like gas is permitted by #7 in the terms and conditions. I am definitely going to consider entering, have any of you used Shoup's rubs or sauces?
