    Grill/Smoker in pic

Some friends brought some everglades back from FL on a trip long ago. They liked it so much while they were there they bought, like, a whole case. They gave us a can, and it went good on anything, just a good all purpose seasoning. It ran out long ago, and I keep meaning to buy more online, and...

    Ribs, convince not to boil

Long before (years in fact) I found SMF I was looking around on the net for rib receipe's, and found one that advised to boil the ribs for 20 min. then put on the grill for an hour or two to impart smoke, and other flavors. Sauce during last 10-15 min. All you tasted was the sauce on some meaty...

    Ribs, convince not to boil

I hate to say it, but I used to boil when I first did ribs a few years back on the gas grill. That's what the receipe said to do...but never quite got the right flavor. The little smoker box never did much. If I turned the gas up hot enough to make the wood smoke, then the ribs would get burned...

My Children Are Mean Too Me, Please Help Me!

I think our OC is the alcohol variety, I know it comes in oil as well. I found that washing my face with baby shampoo (no tears ) worked well to get the OC off, and then sitting facing a fan helped speed up getting over the effects. We described it as bobbing for french fries! Get it! I've...

Do you keep your smoker covered when not in use?

It's sad cause I got an elcheapo grill cover for my brinkmann when I bought that years back, and that thing has held up. Cost about the same (20 bones), but it seems to be made out of a heartier material. That Chargriller thing sucks I'd task the wife with making me a replacement, but well I've...

Do you keep your smoker covered when not in use?

I have the same grill/cover. I've had mine since late May, and the 3rd or 4th time I took the cover off one of the seams along the smoke chamber pulled apart, about a six inch section came undone. Easy fix, by just sewing the seam back, but seemed like poor construction, and flimsy material. I...

    Famous Dave's Cornbread

They are more or less a chain q joint now, but I've eaten at the first Famous Dave's in Hayward, WI. My parents lived there for the past 10 years, and we'd make a trip to Dave's everytime we went to visit. Then again it's hard to recreate the original. Most chains are like that. Start out as a...

    SMF Push Pin Map

Finally put my pin in the map. Boonesboro was as close to my house as I could get. Just go down the river and around the next curve, and my house is right on the river. Here's a couple pics of the deck, and the back yard. The deck is about 14 feet off the ground, as the river gets up from time...

    Baby Back Rib Questions....

Hey SmokyOky what kind of ribs do you like? I've had'em dripping wet with sauce, dry rubbed w/ no sauce, fall off the bone, and chew the meat off the bone style. Personally I like them more or less 3-2-1 style dry rubbed just before going on the smoker. I don't sauce them. I like the meat to...

    My first fatty's!

I'm going to try throwing some stuff into one next time. I figure like you said, if i put it in the fridge or freezer for a bit before the smoker, it will help to stiffen it up a bit. The wife loved it. She can't wait to try one with some cheese, and veggies in it.

    My first fatty's!

Sorry the update comes so late. The fattys were better than I could imagine. Thanks to everyone for continuing to rave about fattys. There will be two on the smoker every time from now on. Also, I tried some applewood, and that stuff smells great. I think it two may be a staple of future smokes...

    My first fatty's!

Come on over gypsy, there should be enough to go around. Boston: I did basic fatty's for my first try. I read alot about trouble with stuffed fatty's falling apart, etc. I just want to try the darn things already...all I did was take them out of the wrapper, roll them in rib rub, and into the...

    My first fatty's!

Small July 4th smoke. I took the boards advice, and decided to do 2 fatty's I've only got a couple people coming over, but if they're as good as advertised, I know we'll down'em, and be wishing I'd done a couple more. Trying a batch of Dutch's wicked baked beans too. I thinks we're going have...
