Here is another vote for Sorel's. Growing up in Alaska, these were our winter boots. Comfortable down to seriously cold Temps. Not sure if you still have to rub the waterproofing on them and bake them anymore, but I remember that from when I was a kid. Thought it was funny to see snow boots...
As a kid it was my gramma's candied carrots. Now it's my wife's baked mushrooms and my candied carrots. Never understood why yams needed to be candied, delicious and sweet all on their own. Had green bean casserole a couple times, I could take it or leave it. Definitely prefer homemade cranberry...
We live in town now and have cable internet. But, we used to live on a farm about 10 miles past bfe. There was no cable, fiber, or dsl within 15 miles. Hughes Net was an option, but with kids that like to game online, the latency would have ruined that. There was a wireless isp that was moving...
Road house halfway between Nenana and Fairbanks, AK is called Skinny Dicks Halfway Inn. Always got a laugh on road trips as a kid. Always thought if I was going to open a bar I'd call it Big D's Halfway Inn (I'm tall and my last name starts with a D).
And all finished. They were wrapped to wait on the stove while the side was finished. Oven roasted butternut squash.
Ribs cut.
Good smoke ring and perfect bite. Came off the bone clean. My plate below. I had several more ribs after...
I had mine w/o sauce, but sauced half a rack cause...
Thanks
I'll keep an eye out for yours.
They're getting close.
Any day is a good day for BB's. They've been expensive here lately.
My job is flexible on working hours so it works really well. I do most of the cooking.
First peak at them. They are up to 193 IT. Smoker has been between 225 and 260 the whole time. No wrap, no mop. Just time and smoke.
Definitely getting close!
One of my favorite perks of wfh is being able to fire up the smoker nearly any day to have weekday bbq.
Food lion had baby backs on sale earlier this week. So I picked up a couple racks.
Seasoned up with some no name pork rub.
Got the kettle going with some KBB and hickory chunks.
And then...
I walk away from my weber kettle all the time. I use the snake method and once you get your vents set they will hold temp for hours. They're also the perfect size for a butt or a couple racks of ribs.
Pickles look fantastic. I planted a bunch of pickling cucumbers this year and they were doing great till the moth larvae started eating them. Ended up pulling every plant. Will try again next year.
Those thighs look fantastic!
Everyone in my house loves chicken thighs smoked with hickory. Hickory is basically all I use. I tried Applewood and cherry before and no one was a fan.
