A few weeks ago, WalMart here had a whole cooler case filled with prime briskets for $1.99/lb. I remember you telling me to "GO BUY THEM, NOW!!" LOL...
Can't say that I blame you. Brisket went on sale here in TX around Independence Day. I was paying around $2/lb for choice briskets. Normal price here is closer to $3.50-$4. Can't speak for CA, though. I'm surprised y'all aren't buying air to breath by the pound out there, yet.
Welcome, fellas. I'm up in Farmersville, TX...about 35 miles north of Dallas. There is a Texas group on here that you may have not noticed, yet. Here's a link to it:

Happy Smokin'!
Welcome, jdar! Back in my military days, I spent a few years in the Roswell area. Probably not too far from where you are. I grew up just outside of Athens in a town called Jefferson. But, enough about me, welcome to SMF! And thanks for the compliment on my cheeseburgers earlier!
Welcome to SMF, Jody. I live in Texas as well...north of Dallas in a little town called Farmersville. There is a Texas group on the site, too. Not too active at the moment, but I'm trying to direct folks to it. Here's a link:

I'll keep that it mind, dirtsailor. Thanks for the heads up. I'll probably have 3 or 4 people here in addition to my family of 5. Probably not a bad idea to have an extra one at the ready!
Took my first shot at smoked cheeseburgers today...my family hates the "resting period" after I pull something off the smoker. Pretty stoked to see how they turn out. Next smoke, after all the hype I've read on here today, will be a fatty this weekend. If anyone has any tips, suggestions or...
I'm not a lush, fellas...I refuse to drink before 9 am. That is when I started this morning...lol. Unfortunately, no pics of the finished product. Cook took a bit longer than expected and I had two teenagers, my 7 year old boy and their momma yelling for lunch. Had to cut em up and dish em out...
