So I plan on doing a London Broil and Sirloin Tip Roast on the WSM tomorrow. I have yet to smoke any beef and I'm not quite sure where to start as far as temp, seasoning, and estimated cook time. I say estimated cook time because I need to plan appropriately if this will take 10hrs versus...
I am loving the WSM although I skip the water. But I am still on the look out for a good used K Joe. I would like to have both for capacity purposes. The 18" WSM runs out of real estate a little too quickly sometimes.
I am hoping someone is willing to share their experiences with the BBQ Guru DigiQ or CyberQ temp controllers with a WSM. The black friday sales have seriously considering picking one up for those longer smokes. What is the good, the bad, the ugly. I am typically using my smoker 2-3 times a...
I have a lot of obsessions that keep me broke. Hunting, fly fishing, rv'ing, and boating come to mind. So I figured why not add smoking meat to the list.
I took noboundaries advice and am using RO briquettes. Im not going to complain the local lowes has them for 5.99 a bag. I might just pick a few more bags up just to be on the safe side.
I am going to do a few cooks but am seriously considering the gasket kit. I have some leakage but its...
Thanks for the tip. I probably would have chased temps if you hadn't said something. I did have an interesting temp drop of 25 degrees at about 4 hours that I had to make a minor adjustment for.
Any thoughts on water versus no water in the bowl? That also seems like a another topic.
Also...
That clean versus dirty smoke thing wasn't something I really understood until I was able to watch the smoke change. Now that I know what I'm looking for it all makes sense.
I'm still figuring out where to put things in the forum but I think this is the right place for bs type topics. If it's not my apologies.
Well on to the interesting part. I took my new to me wsm out for a dry run today to get familiar with how it will behave. I am surprised at how simple...
I am new to smoking and found a like new 18 WSM at a price I couldn't pass up. So now that I have a smoker I realize there is an untold number of tools, accessories, and gadgets out there. I am hoping some of you are willing to chime in on what are the worthwhile and must have tools and...
Thanks everyone for the input. This baby came home with me today. I couldn't pass it up 18" wsm 2 bags of wood chunks for $125. It is nearly new used 3 times per the prior owner. I'm now in the game. Time to get some charcoal and season this baby.
Thank you for mentioning the WSM. I didn't realize it was so popular and so effective. I think I am going to go down this path although I need to do some more research. Seems I can pick up a fairly new 18" locally in the $150-200 range although I think I really might want a 22". Either way...
