    Weber Kettle Restoration

Did you contact Weber? I bought a new Weber kettle in 2000 after we moved to Florida. Gave the one in Wisconsin to a friend as I didn't want to pay for storage. In 2009, I noticed it was rusting out around the legs at the bottom of the kettle. I remembered at that time, they were supposed to...

Isn't yellow perch the tastiest freshwater fish?

Memories..back in the 50's/60's (boy, am I old), we lived in Chicago and dad would take me down to Navy Pier to fish with our bamboo poles for Yellow Perch. We would usually come home with a bucket full, and have a great fish fry that night. Now living in Florida, I watch friends from up north...

Went for the blood tests and got the cholesterol levels. Doc said the bad cholesterol numbers were acceptable, but the good cholesterol numbers were off the charts. One Small Prime Rib = 3 Very Nice Ribeyes. (Ninja Smart Grill)

Bear, This is something I've been wondering about. I've got a 10 pound prime rib roast in the freezer since last year, and I'm not sure when the family and friends will start returning for visits. Can I defrost the prime rib roast, cut it into steaks, and then refreeze them? Fully defrost...

    Is this safe?

Yep, came home from golf today, and tossed it in the garbage bin. I'm not sure what the temp of the steak was, but it did get up to about 78 degrees yesterday, and if the steak was out for any length of time, I'm sure it got near that temperature as well. I need to set some alarms for myself. I...

I got it as well. I have multiple email addresses, but 3 major ones. 1 - Personal email address, that nobody that's not in my contacts list can get through. 2 - The internet/forums/groups/etc, that I use for things like this forum. Probably get maybe 10% spam from sites that sell the info. 3 -...

    Is this safe?

Participating in this forum, I noticed everyone is concerned about food safety. While I am as well, I'm usually only cooking for the wife an myself, so while certain precautions are in order, we don't really need to worry about health regualtions for cooking for the masses. That said, if anyone...

So when do you admit you have a problem?

I admit I have a problem, especially over the last 2 months. We have a chest freezer packed to the top. Digging around for stuff, I take stuff out and put it on a shelf, or even on the floor. I find what I'm looking for, close the freezer door and walk away. The next day, the wife walks out into...

    Prime Rib

My son and his girlfriend came to visit this past weekend. We were planning on going out to dinner, but then I figured why not grab a rib roast and make it. Well, it turned out better than that. Went to Publix and found that they also cut the roast into some 'steakhouse cut' 2 pound steaks (if...

roast beef like you get in the deli

They've been cured or brined in some solution. I interviewed with a meat packing plant once. Took the tour, and walked into a room with big vats of some kind of solution. In the vats were hundreds of beef roasts floating. The guy said that they process Arby roast beef.

    Jury Duty Crap

In my 71 years, I've never gotten called for jury duty, until a few months ago. Sure enough, the exact time period when I was supposed to fly up to St. Louis to play in a golf tournament with my son. So I started looking for the exemptions. The one that immediately jumped out at me was: I am 70...
