I was thinking that was the case as I started watching too many YouTube videos and started going beyond just smoking. I just needed to hear it from somebody with experience so thank you!

Almost Burned Smokehouse Down (Need Advice)

I’ve done 4 smokes in the smokehouse with temperatures from 225° up to 415° in a double walled cedar smokehouse with an offset brick fire box 2 feet away. Last night I ran into an issue inside the smokehouse and I need to make some modifications and get advice. I was smoking chicken, wings...

New Firebox Lids for both Smokehouses

I have both a hot smokehouse and a cold smokehouse that I built this year. I was never quite sure how to build the top of the firebox since I could not figure out a way to put fire bricks on the ceiling without fear of them falling in. I saw somebody on one of the forums put a steel plate across...

Need Advice on Firebox for Hot Smokehouse

I guess I need to consult the experts on Firebox building. I used concrete blocks on top of a concrete slab. And line floor of fire box and side with fire bricks. That all seems to work great as walls are cold to the touch. I was unsure of how to put on a ceiling when building so I saw...

Hot & Cold Smokehouse Builds Completed (His n Hers?)

The double door is the cold smokehouse. Thank you for the compliment! I moved from a city life to a country life just under three years ago, and I had no woodworking or any kind of smaller big tool experience whatsoever. This is my fifth project, so with each project I’m refining my skills...

Hot & Cold Smokehouse Builds Completed (His n Hers?)

After buying a Pig last November, I had the idea of building a smokehouse. Cold, hot, I did not know. Just drew up some plans based on others on the internet and on here and started back on Feb 1st after buying rough cut cedar. A lot of long hours. After buying the rough cut cedar that I...

Pipe Thimble Necessary for Hot Smokehouse?

I have been taking a lot of advice from the members here and appreciate all your help! I am nearing the completion of my hot Smoke House, which is a Cedar siding both inside and out, with a layer of aluminum flashing on all inside walls and ceiling, and I am most likely not going to be...

    Concrete Board inside Hot Smokehouse?

I do appreciate your input! okay, that is helpful. My wife is concerned I’m going to burn the place down so just trying to make sure I keep things safe. I probably will do the aluminum flashing just so I can get more convection and get uniform heat throughout the house. Really appreciate your...

    Concrete Board inside Hot Smokehouse?

My dimensions are the size of yours. I have cinderblocks too high on the ground, with a 6 foot cedar box that is 3‘ x 3‘. I am probably going to be running temps perhaps up to 250° but who knows, May not be that high, or could get up to 300°.

    Concrete Board inside Hot Smokehouse?

I am nearing completion of my hot smokehouse. I have used three-quarter inch cedar both inside and outside of my frame. My wife would like me to make it a little more fire proof by adding protection inside. Is concrete board acceptable to use or is there another, medium, that people suggest...

Thermometer Recommendation for 36” Sq Hot Smokehouse

Thanks for the suggestion and tips! I went ahead and just ordered it. My Thermoworks signals and billows arrived in the mail today so I have pretty much everything I need now except for the damper which will probably be here by Tuesday. 👍

Thermometer Recommendation for 36” Sq Hot Smokehouse

I will be burning apple wood or cherry wood for heat and smoke. My brother is getting me a tote of each so I am set for a while. I will make chips for the cold smoker, build a small fire, then just let chips smolder so there won’t be much heat. I appreciate the suggestions in setting the...

Thermometer Recommendation for 36” Sq Hot Smokehouse

Your recommendation for Thermoworks was indeed helpful. I read the reviews and seems like a reliable user-friendly product. I bought the Thermoworks Signals, and bought the Billows along with a few addition Pro Series Probes and extension cords. I have no idea how to work it or install it...

Looking for recommendation for my Hot Smokehouse build with dimensions 36” x 36” x 8’.
