Should have mentioned that this is a Masterbuilt and it doesn't have a smoke mode.
Just read in another post about using a cast iron skillet directly on the heating element so that might be a solution
Thanks to tallbm and others, I ordered the Auber WS 1500XX which arrived yesterday. I spend a few days standing on my head reading the manual and think I have a pretty good idea how it works. .
So today, I hooked everything up and set temp at 220. Unit came right up and sat right at 220. My...
I wrote to Auber over the weekend and received a reply early Monday morning. Seems that if they have an out of stock item, they post a "call for price" because the site can't be corrected. Anyway the much toted WS1510ELPM is the upgraded unit.

I have a Traeger and had problems with temp swings until I installed a PID controller. If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought either a MAK or RecTec
My first batch didn't last long so another batch was in order. I didn't have enough French mustard so I substituted a tablespoon of some designer mustard the wife likes. All I can say is, don't do it! A lot of the mustard flavor is lost and they aren't as good.
