    New MES Bluetooth Digital smoker

Thanks for the reply Bear. What about coating the inside with anything? I remember doing something like that on my 30 in MES.

    New MES Bluetooth Digital smoker

I am not sure if this has been mentioned or not, but are most people still 'seasoning' their new 40 in. MES gen 2.5 smoker? I am picking one up today. I thought I read somewhere that because of the inside material of the gen 2.5 that most were not. I could be wrong, it's been a while since I...

    AMNPS leftovers

Probably a dumb question, but do you clean your AMNPS any way special?  Or just soap and water?

    AMNPS leftovers

I've done a few smokes now using the AMNPS (with the MES 30) and sometimes I have leftover pellets, like maybe half a row or so.  Is it ok to put them back and reuse them at a later date?  Or should I just throw them away?  I hate to waste them if I am able to reuse them.  Thanks.

    New MES Bluetooth Digital smoker

Thanks bear. I can't seem to find the newer gen 2.5 on masterbuilt's website, it appears they only have the older gen 2 unless I'm missing it. For my own sanity, is the main difference between the 2 and 2.5 the small shade cover over the lCD panel and legs?

    New MES Bluetooth Digital smoker

A quick question on identifying the Masterbuilt 40 gen 2.5.  I was at my local Sam;s Club and saw this model: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/masterbuilt-smoker/prod15560335.ip?xid=hdr_locator_my-club_6322 It looks like the same one from amazon here: But the Sam's Club model has legs and what...

    MES 30 and AMNPS problem

Just did the boiling water test.  Both probes tested at 212*.  So looks like the probes are functioning properly.  I had to raise the temp on the MES 30 to 252* to get the Mav probe to read 235* earlier.  Glad I did, only problem is I am not sure the total time the smoker temp was at 235*, I am...

    MES 30 and AMNPS problem

Both of my probes are long and narrow silver probes, so I am thinking I don't have the older style.  Therefore I am assuming that it does not matter which probe I use for smoker temp.  I also am assuming that I can use #1 or #2 for smoker temp as well.  Would you agree? When this next smoke...

    MES 30 and AMNPS problem

Bear, two questions. Should I be using probe 1 or 2 when using the Mav to check smoker temp? Or does it not matter? And maybe a dumb question but how do I check it with boiling water? Obviously stick the probe in boiling water, what should it read, 212*?

    MES 30 and AMNPS problem

Ok will do, thanks.  One other quick question about the MES 30.  I am doing some ribs right now with the 2-2-1 method so I am not using meat probes for IT.  The MES is saying 238 and the Maverick probe (which I am just using to measure IT of the smoker) is only saying 198.  Which do I believe...

    MES 30 and AMNPS problem

Hi guys, I have been having an interesting problem with my AMNPS going out during a smoke.  I read here that Bear suggests putting the AMNPS on the two bars in the lower left of the smoker but when I do that, it goes out every time.  If I put the AMNPS on top of the wood chip burner, it works...

Smoking two pork butts at once

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah I am using the Maverick ET-733 with 2 probes, so I will have a probe in each piece of meat (instead of the 2nd one monitoring the inside of the smoker itself.)  As far as room goes, I remove the top rack and set the top pork butt on the 2nd rack.  I am thinking I will...

Smoking two pork butts at once

Hello all.  Re-visiting the forums here to get some expert advice.  I am looking at smoking two pork butts at once and needed a little knowledge.  I have smoked pork butts before, but never two at once.  I am using a MES 30" electric smoker and a AMNPS.  My pork butts in the past have ranged...

Baby back ribs vs. Boston Butt

Dumb question but what's that difference between baby back ribs vs. spare ribs when smoked? Just taste?
