THanks so much guys - canopy it is! I have 4 Home Depot buckets with cement to anchor it - hopefully the high winds / tornados / hail spare me!
We r building a new house and I have an extra little pad being poured with a cabana roof just for my smoker. Can't wait.
I got a good laugh on the...
ok I am in Texas and as you may be aware we have busted our drought in a big way. That's great but it sucks if you finally have a free weekend to light up the smoker. I've smoked before in light on again / off again rain - but wondering if anyone has any tips. Yes I'm a tad desperate lol...
For something different, try brining in pickle juice. I take a good quality jar of pickles - like vlasic kosher dills (the ones in the refrigerator section). Costco also has Carnegie Deli pickles that are awesome. Anyway, save the juice and brine in that juice for 6 hours or more. It...
I too have an OKJ Longhorn and I think this will be my next Project. I found a YouTube video on how to make one fairly easy, with exactly what Tropics mentioned. Will give me something to do while smoking and drinking a cold beer!
thanks for the info,
For something different I have injected mine with either Stubbs Green Chili marinade or Hatch Green Chili enchilada sauce. We do pulled pork tacos with it once pulled, and comes out fantastic....
And, I eat way too much lol.
Thanks for the info Bruno994! I actually have wanted to try Bad Byrons and will definitely now. I have been using Williams Rib Tickler as my base lately but have been wanting to try different things - I either make them spicy or wimpy depending on who is eating them. On the Cherry Cider I...
Altramagnus - can I ask where you got the flex pipe to extend the pipe down to the grate? I believe we have the same smoker and was thinking of doing the same thing - is it as easy as a pipe used for a clothes dryer? Thanks in advance, and the pics were aweosme!
Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the tip on lighting the charcoal on the side burner! I can't believe I never thought of that, and my grill is 5 feet from my smoker lol.
thanks again!
This is one of the briskets, as I was wrapping it. I usually take pics as I cut slices / cut the ribs but it was down to the wire from a time perspective, and the food was inhaled haha.
Entered a cook off with a good buddy - it was thru his church but it was really serious. This was the 6 th year it has been put on. There were local celebrity judges and it was a blast even though I had the smallest smoker haha. I know it's not the size of the smoker but how you use it! There...
