ARRGGGHHH!!!!!!!
Rookie move on my part. Should have vacuumed the firebox and well….. chocked it off and snuffed the flame. Fortunately I am only 2 hours in so I should be able to salvage this. It looks like I am back up to temp
Planning pulled pork for dinner tonight for several people so I decided to smoke 2 butts. 7.8 and 7.77 lbs each.
Seasoned them up last night and they went on this morning about 4:30 AM. Got the Traeger set at 225F and the smoke tube rolling smoke as well. I am expecting to stall around 10 AM...
I have an inexpensive tube as well that the end falls off, I am just gonna get a couple of rivets and secure it and be done with it.
Why cut the tube down when you can simply just half fill it if you want less smoke? I get just under 4 hours of smoke from my tube so I just fill it for the time...
We went with a Traeger Pro 34 and love it. No wi-fi so we were having to check temps on it all the time. For $30 from Amazon we picked up a Govee Bluetooth thermometer system and now we can monitor and still do the Netflix and chill routine.
Once you decide what you want look at Amazon. We...
So far we have liked Bear Mountain, Lumberjack, and Pit Boss. These are all made with hardwoods for what ever flavor you are going after. Cabela pellets are supposedly made my Lumberjack but I have heard they burn faster than normal Lumberjack.
Traeger is another brand out there with pellets...
Hit the stall at 6 hours and about 158. Double wrapped in butcher paper and now it’s just cooking away at 250. We are now up to 178 after 9 hours total.
We tasted it when we wrapped as there was a little piece trying to flake off. OMG WAS IT GOOD!!!
Considering turning the temp up to 275 at...
We went with a simpler seasoning but cut the Old Bay Seasoning in half. Debating on spritzing as it smokes but the only thing we really have to use is apple juice in the house
Put the winter blanket on as it’s a bit chilly here.
Trying pulled beef again on the Traeger. Got it loaded up with Lumberjack Competition Blend along with burning a smoke tube. Put it on about 7:15 this morning and just gonna let it go until it’s done. We will wrap it up in butcher paper when it hits the stall. Aiming for around 210 this time but...
All the videos I have watched about smoking meats is that a pellet will give off less smoke than an offset but that doesn't mean you can't get a decent smoke from a pellet smoker. Temp setting on the pellet play in to the amount of smoke as well. My Traeger has a SMOKE setting which is below...
So we have tried pulled beef twice now and while it smoked up great, it did not pull apart like a pork butt will.
Do I have to go with a higher IT? Is it the type of meat?
This last time we did an arm roast for over 8 hours and pulled it off the pellet smoker about 201 or so. Like I said...
Check your lease and get a ruling from the office if you can even use it there in the first place. Some will limit charcoal or gas grill to be used in certain places or on which floor or even how close to the structure you are allowed. If the complex says you are legal then you are free to use...
We looked at the 575 when we were looking to get into a pellet smoking but as soon as we saw it in person we went straight to the 780 and 34. We opted for the 34 for the price as this was our first unit. The 575 is tiny.
