That's a great idea Steve... I don't know why i never thought of doing burgers in the smoker... When I fire up my bad boy, all i can think of is a big honkin piece of meat like a butt, ribs, fatty or a brisket... Burgers never crossed my mind... Have you ever taken burgers from beginning to end...
That is a very nice smoke ring... My dear am I getting hungry!!! I hope you don't mind, I'm using the picture above as my background on my work PC. I got into the habit of putting up a picture of the next item on my "To Smoke" list and a brisket is it... Thanks for wetting my pallet!!! Really...
The best way to present pulled pork, in my humble opinion, is a huge mountain of it on a soft bun with a healthy dose of your favorite sauce and maybe topped with some slaw... I think that pulled pork is one of those foods that looks great when its a sloppy mess!!!
Geez I'm hungry!!!
In all...
I'm a big fan of mixing whiskey with my apple juice... Mostly Jack Daniels or a peaty scotch... Sometimes I'll even throw in some brown sugar just for kicks... Pork is fun!!! It's like the superhero of meat... and it's delicious!!!
Looking awesome!!! Those looked like some choice butts, great picture!!! I've heard so much about Jeff's rub... I think i might have to send him a message today...
I thought I was having a stroke there... Scared the crap out of me!!!
Back to the food...
nrok2118 - I have never used rib racks before. Your ribs look like they turned out great! Did you find that you increased the cook time based on the amount of meat you were smoking?
Great looking ribs! That tipsy jerk sauce sounds good too...
Good to see another Canadian on this site!!! When's the next event??? I could use a good smoke party!!!
I'm am with ballagh on this one... This is pretty much exactly how i do my butts... Sometimes I'll replace the hickory for apple wood. The JD Barrel chunks are made with oak and mixes really well with the apple wood. I also mop with an apple juice and Jack Daniels mixture. I mop my mouth with...
I do the same with Jameson's, minus the ginger, lemon and lime...
If you would like a real treat in the blistering summer sun, try whipping up some Lynchburg Lemonaid.
- 1 Can of lemonaid from concentrate (Making it from scratch is always best but who's got time for that???)
- 3 cans of...
Hey Steve,
I have a yearly camping event going on the first week of August and I'm going to be doing up about 15 racks. I will most certainly try out your spiced rum and apple juice spritz. I'll set up a Qview and let you know how it turns out. You could not be more right, smoking IS great...
Hey swalker,
I love to use apple juice as well but I have never had any experience using rum in a spritz... I usually use a whiskey of some kind. Does the rum taste come through on the meat? Let me know as I'm very intrigued...
Cheers,
Johnny K.
I really should start reading these forums with my glasses on... Chubby??? That's just a little embarrassing...
Yes, i did mean chuckie... Thank you for the clarification, bpopovitz!!! If I had realized that's what it said, i probably could have figured it out on my own... I think I work too...
I was taking a look at your photo bucket (BTW, you have some fantastic pictures in there...) and caught a peek at your smoker... I am building my second right now and funny enough, it is the same one you made, I mean EXACTLY the same!!!
Where did you get the small barrel for your fire box? (if...
