I will be doing them this weekend. The butcher shop that sells the pork belly isn’t open on sundays and I don’t have time during the week. Saturday it is! I figured if they come out good Saturday I’ll do some for super bowl Sunday party
I just checked with stroot locker. They sell them in 10-12 lb slabs for 3.49/lb. I’ll probably get one from them and freeze half. It works out since they are about half a mile from my house.
its Sunday so the butcher shops aren’t open around here. Does Kroger (Dillons) or Wally World sell pork belly? Wanting to try pork belly burnt ends for first time today since it’s supposed to be 55 degrees outside.
Going to do some pork spares after my other post asking between baby backs and spares.
Local grocer had them $1.99/lb
Got a 6.75lb rack
Trimmed them up, and put on a store bought rub. I usually use @SmokinAl rib rub recipe, but wanted something different today. Hopefully these turn out

Ha thanks so much. I’m not much on pre made spices either as most I’ve found have a lot of salt as well. I usually make my own from a recipe on here, which it’s good, I just wanted something different this time.
Thanks for all the input, it’s greatly appreciated!
I think I’m going to take people’s advice and do a side by side cook with the same seasonings and pellets and such, and see which turns out better for me, if there is one.
I’m not sure why I haven’t liked them so much. Maybe I need to take...
I’m sure the answer to this is personal preference, but some insight would be great.
I’m wanting to smoke some ribs again this weekend. Every time I’ve done ribs I’ve used spare ribs and although they have been decent, I haven’t felt they have been good. I’ve never cooked baby backs before and...
Final product on everything
I didn’t taste much flavor difference between using the Daniel Boone to cook the cookies vs an oven, but once I add a tube for smoke I’ll try these again.
The pork was fantastic. Much more tender than the last one I did. I’m not sure if that’s due to added injection...
I’ve never heard of one finishing this quick either. I put just under 2 cups of cherry Dr Pepper in it. I was expecting it to take about 15 hours. I took it to 203 IT. Probed with a knife a fork and a tooth pick in multiple areas and they all went through it like they were going through air...
Decided not to wrap. The popular opinion is to only wrap if you need to speed things up or don’t have time. I’m not on any time limit, and want a nice bark. Almost 5 hours in and temp is at 164. Haven’t hit a stall yet...
Does anybody know of an app for SMF for iPhone? I’ve searched the App Store and Tapatalk with no results. I keep getting the page redirect when I use the forum. I’ve tried clearing website data and nothing seems to fix it but turning off javascript, but I do that and it jacks everything else I...
I’ll be trying your recipe with the Cajun apple butter next time I do one of these. I wanted to do it this time but I was nervous as this will be feeding guests and I hate trying new stuff out on people.
Thanks. The only difference I’m doing this time is once it hits 160 I will be wrapping. I didn’t do the wrap last time, so going to see which one I like better. Best part of everything is I got a $100 gift card to Kroger, so the cost of everything is free!
second time doing bone in pork shoulder
Having guests over tomorrow and wife has been dying for some since I did the first one a few weeks back
About 8.24 lbs
Injected with cherry Dr Pepper
Rubbed lightly with applewood seasoning, then some of @SmokinAl pork seasoning on top of that.
Going...
