I need to find out how they make those pork skins like you get at fairs or flea market type skins. Some are as big as your hand.Where do you buy these skins and what temp do you deep fry them. I have tried doing skins from a whole hog I have smoked but they don't plump up like the skins you buy...
You did a phenominal job on 'em butts! From looking at the pictures I could almost smell them butts smoking! I haven't seen such good looking grub like this in a long time. You have nailed it. Don't change a thing. If it tasted good to you then I wouldn't change anything.
Yes ,I have been listening to that song for about 3 months now. It brings a tear to my eye too. Must be getting soft in my old age. All I listen to is country music also.
O.K. Gypsy.....I thought I had done something wrong by it not taking on any smoke. I think the density of bologna keeps it from absorbing anything. I won't take up room in my smoker with that again. I like my bologna skillet fried in butter anyway,.......yum....can't beat that with mayonaise...
Welcome to the SMF,Rather! Good place to hang out,get good sound knowledge, and just have fun with your new smoking family. We have a good time here as well as cook good food. We like pictures of your smokes and we like to see your smokers. Happy smoking, Paul
Terry, It looks good ,man. I also see you got a pot of coffee next to the Capt. Morgan in case you can't see your burning the food. A cup of coffee then a glass of Capt. Morgan,I got it.LOL. Keep the scenery pictures coming ,Walkingdude loves em,HeHeHe.
Walkingdude, you did pretty good for an Iowa boy. Did you ever wrap it in foil to keep it moist or just kept it naked the whole smoke? It looks mighty good. HeHeHe
Thanks Brian, I'll check those out too. I sure would like to have a drum like yours and Mike's. That way I wouldn't have to crank up my trailer grill for medium sized smokes. My ECB's are too small sometimes unless I use two of them side by side. Appreciate the info, Paul
I appreciate the info Mike. I will look for them tomorrow while I am out at Home Depot. Everyone who has this type smoker has given a good report about them. I think it is a set it and forget it system. Thanks again, Paul
Peculiarmike, you mentioned the plugs for air in the bottom. What are they made of and where do you get them? I have a drum I plan on making like yours. Thanks for the info, Paul
Gypsey, speaking of what to smoke..... I thought one time you smoked some stalk bologna. I couldn't find the thread for it. Oh well....I tried one with my fatties and ABT's and after 2 1/2 hours all it did was split down the top and I got the internal temp to 155 degrees. I took it off and it...
Yeah, that's a good size for landscape. For pictures of people I would like them to be smaller, though. I think I have it figured out now. I have been experimenting with pictures before I make a post. Thanks for your help, Paul
