    PID Tuning fun MES30

Yes I read that thread several times, I made pretty much all the mods except the insulation. I am planning to start with chips, not pellets as I like the taste/smell better, who knows, I may switch to the AMNPS pellet system, which I already have. I don't envision using it much at high temps as...

    PID Tuning fun MES30

I went grocery shopping and came back and the PID MES30 was spot on 275F, just like I set it. I tried auto tune just for fun and it came up with P=51, I=610, D=140, mmm, that didn't work, dropped to 245 from a 275 set point, so I tried P=3, I=200 and D=0, so far it's good, moving from 275F to...

    PID Tuning fun MES30

One other question for the Mes30 analog, what’s the maximum temperature empty that the stock controller will allow? I think the manual says 375, I’m starting my tuning at 250 and go from there. I just don’t want the controller never being able to reach the top temperature. Thx

    PID Tuning fun MES30

Thanks guys for all the great help, appreciate it. I decided to cut the 3" hole in the bottom for the mailbox mod which I will eventually incorporate so once that is done I will be playing with the PID again today. I put a pork shoulder in the Kamodo with charcoal for today, it's humming along...

    PID Tuning fun MES30

Thank you, appreciate the replies. I decided to hold off on drilling holes in the MES 30 and instead put my 1500W element in the Komodo cooker and I’m playing with tuning in that tonight with a rack of ribs. So now I have another question should the tuning be done with or without pellet smoke...

    PID Tuning fun MES30

Quick question on air intake opening on the bottom of the MES30 analog, I have put in the usual stainless smoke stack which is a 2 1/2" hole, has a damper built in, I don't want to put in a 3" hole for the mailbox mod yet, I may one day, but for now I would like an adjustable intake, I'm...

    PID Tuning fun MES30

Hi all, I finished building my REX C100 PID yesterday, played with it last night with a light bulb, watching the PID function do its thing, pretty neat seeing it learn after an hour it was able to keep the same SV value, cool. Today I am finishing the MES mods, just need to add the smoke stack...

    FINISHING SAUCE (for Pulled Pork)

Just to confirm, so I don’t have to read all 26 pages of this thread, you are referring to the recipe in post number one correct? I’m doing a butt for Canada day. Long weekend. My toughest decision will be which smoker do I use the pellet, Komodo, or my new Mes30 which still needs some mods...

Papa’s premium pellets- anybody use them or have opinions on them?

Thanks Al, I bought 3 different varieties, I'll try them over the next few weeks. They are regular stock at Princess Auto and are currently on sale. I looked for Lumberjack brand and they are not available in my area, shipping is too much, although Amazon has a 20 lb bag for $115 with free...

    Masterbuilt lack of "customer support"

Well, good/bad news. I heard from MB and they no longer supply these rack holders, they suggested the same places mentioned here, but of course, they don't have them either. So, I'll come up with something else to hold the extra 3 or 4 racks. Probably change the spacing of the original 3...

    Masterbuilt lack of "customer support"

Thanks guys, Well I sent them a message on the FB page, we'll see if they reply. I even gave them the part numbers so there is really no work for them to do. Appliance parts doesn't have the rack holders and they want $35 per rack, that's not going to happen. :emoji_laughing: I'll let you...

    Masterbuilt lack of "customer support"

I have been trying to find a way to contact Masterbuilt to order parts not shown on their site, racks and shelves to update my new MES30 Analog. They don't answer phone calls, there's no chat link, and haven't responded to my online form request. Anyone in the last little while been able to...

Where's the love for Brinkmann SnP?

Hi all, I have renewed my interest in smoking, BBQing etc in the last 6 months, I haven't been doing much except basic cooking for years. I brought out my barely used Brinkmann SnP that I've had for 18 years and thought I would research some mods for it, we never use anything stock it seems...

Best basic electric smoker for DIY PID install

I have 3 stainless smoke stacks on the way, (long story but funny) and now I want to add more shelves. I have found several threads about adding racks but no reference to part numbers or source of the holders themselves. What did you use and where did you find the rack holders? Actual racks I...
