I have a homebuilt smoker thats still a work in progress its an old grill that i added a char griller firebox to what id like to know is does anyone burn straight wood in this size setup or is it best to use charcoal with chunks? I have hickory available that i can get and prefer the wood but...
I have not tried that but there isn't too many places that i see to put it, i have it hanging beside the water pan which is empty,cause i like a dry CC other than bringing it down closer to the burner or up into the cooking area the only other place is directly opposite its location now...
Yes the pellets did burn totally to ash on the trial run and smoked good as far as if they just charred at lower temp i haven't looked at them yet but they just seemed to go out if i opened the lower door they seemed to pick up a little and try to smoke i could blow on them and they would perk...

If you use pellts in a gas smoker you have to have something like the amazen pellet smoke tube otherwise if you just thow them in tge chip pan they burn up to quickly.
Im going to be using for hot smoking, although sometime in the future id love to start doing some cold smoking. Thanks for the info, just didn't know if it had to be totally full to work its magic.

Ok i have a Smoke Hollow gas smoker and am going to order the amazen tube smoker from Todd as i have heard this is the only one to use in gas smokers. My question is im thinking of the 12" tube which says provides about 4you hrs of smoke.what if i only wanted a couple hours do i olny fill it...

I have quite a bit of left over PP and some Beef from a pretty good size smoke and would love tuse it in some other meals. I was looking for some recipes or ideas either i don't know where to look or they are scattered around the site does anybody have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Ive been at 235 all night on my smoke 15 hours in and just now at 189 i usually do a shoulder around 8.5 lbs and they are done at about 13 hour mark guess that extra really makes a difference it time.
