I have the exact same smoker. I have noticed the same issues and wondered if I was putting out enough smoke. I have felt the temps just had to be high enough to get the wood smoking and the last smoke I did I tried just putting my chips in alum foil instead of the chip tray...seemed to work...
I've got a pack of Sam's baby backs in my fridge right now...can't wait to throw them on the smoker tomorrow! hope they turn out half as nice as yours did.......
I say they will eat what you make for them or not eat at all.....lol.....ok maybe not. I'm sure they will fall in love with whatever you decide to make and beg you to break out the smoker again soon......good luck!
