    Turkey Thaw Times

I put a 12 lb. breast into the fridge on Saturday. This morning it was still hard as a rock. Probably going to have to put it in water for a while. Good thing I bought an extra wide & deep sink when I remodeled the kitchen. (Kinda had this in mind then.)

    Porkstrami Using Loin

Interesting. I've had a pork loin in the freezer for a while that I wasn't sure what to do with. Might give this a shot.

When you have to give your dog pills but they want to outsmart you

I used to use an old pillow case. But that in itself, was quite a task. They're not as forgiving as a dog. They'll show their displeasure with you in a variety of ways, later.

When you have to give your dog pills but they want to outsmart you

If you think getting a dog to swallow a pill is hard, try it with a cat. You need to dress like a bomb disposal technician.

When you have to give your dog pills but they want to outsmart you

Our dog could snatch snacks out of the air. So we hid them in a small chunk of cheese, and just tossed them to her.

    2025 NFL Season Thread

An example of misleading stats: Seahawks QB Sam Darnold completed 33 of 48 passes today. Of course, 4 of them were to the LA Rams.

    I might not have retired

I used to work with a guy whose previous job was at Rainier Brewery in Seattle. He said it was expected that workers would grab a beer off the line at lunch. This was probably in the 60's or 70's.

    Hunting And Fishing Thread!?!

I haven't hunted for many years. But when I did, there was a small, local grocery store in Winthrop, WA, where the butcher would process folks deer at night after close. He charged to $100 to cut steaks & roasts, grind the rest with some beef tallow, and wrap everything nicely in white butcher...

    Turkey Prices / Kroger Sales

I picked up a breast a couple weeks ago for $.97 lb. Limit was 1, but now I think I may need another, and they are nowhere to be found at any price. I've seen some whole turkeys at $.59, and Butterballs were $.99 lb at a Kroger affiliate. There was an ad somewhere for a free turkey, but you had...

Wow, that definitely looks fabulous! I have to wonder though, how it would taste if spread on some crusty bread?

Same. I spent more on the mods to get it workable, than I did on the offset.

Brine a Turkey Breast that's been Brined?

And here I was, thinking my off-brand turkey breast probably wasn't brined. 19%? Guess I won't need to add additional brine after all.
